Imperial Devices Rank 25 Instanced Raid Walk through and loot list

This is a guide on the rank 25 instanced raid at The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak. I have lead numerous run in this dungeon and have figured some things out. There are two ways of doing this raid, using it as an SP place at rank 25, or sweeping the area with high level classes for loot only. I will be referencing this map for the remainder of the walk through.

    http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...ialDevices.jpg

The object of this raid is to obtain 4 photocells and then use them to unlock different areas of the dungeon. Following the map, the order to unlock all 4 doors and get to the Final NM Boss is Blue > Green > Pink > Red. The photocells are located at each colored dot on the map, they look like a yellow glowing orb within tree roots. Now you can obtain them in any order but it is best to stick with the order mentioned above.

If you unlock each gate at the correct stage you can fight the end boss named Shaula on the map. The key to fighting the NM bosses is to focus all attention on the main boss, ignoring the minions as the boss will keep spawning them. If you defeat the end boss and open all 4 gates before 25 minutes are up you will get 5 treasure chests at the end of the fight which will all contain Unique/Exclusive armor and weapons.

In my experience it has been pretty hard to clear the entire dungeon at rank 25, the groups I've lead have been able to clear 3 all the way up to pink but ended up using them to fight the NM Sargas. A way to save a decent chunk of time, is after you get all 4 photocells that unlock the pink gate use the Return command to return to the entrance of the dungeon. This can save you upwards of 4-5 minutes as you will have a much more direct route to the unlocking gate.

Below is a list of items that can be won from this dungeon. This is a list of items that I have personally seen drop from either the treasure chests populated around the map or the chests from the NM fights.

Thanks for the map, I keep forgetting where those treasure chests pop =P I just thought I'd add that I'm fairly sure the quest NPC will always spawn behind the first gate you open no matter if it's the north or south one.

Also for anyone interested in the challenge, I've done Schaula with a R30, 30, 33, 34 group, it can probably be done with the entire party at r30. The hardest part is getting to the arena with enough time to fight the boss, but if you can make it (or don't mind if you fail getting there) I really suggest doing that route since you get a lot more treasure chests and enemies to fight for SP.

Actually depending on your party makeup/skill level it might be better to kill at least the babies present at the start. It's not difficult to kite the bosses and kiting avoids their worst moves. Kite or Sleep (sleep potions and the sleep spell seem pretty accurate but it's not a guarantee) the boss and have someone keep it busy while the rest of the party gathers up the babies, each taking one and using AOE ws/spells to get rid of them. You can have the healer(s) rest up some mp before taking on the boss without worrying about too much damage being taken.

After that point though, it's better to just go for broke and focus the boss itself while using AOE ws's to try and kill adds as they come while still damaging the boss. I haven't paid attention too well so I'm not sure what triggers the boss calling more babies, but if it's based on the boss's hp you could kite or sleep it while your party deals with the adds.

These methods are safer but take more time so I would only really try them for Antares and Sargas where you're likely to have time to spare. A slower party will get overwhelmed by adds if they are not dealt with and it's really bad to wipe at that point because all adds that are there when you wipe will still be there when you run back to the boss. If your party is durable enough or you're low on time it's best to just try and focus on the boss at the start, though.

The boss spawns more minions almost as soon as they are killed. It is easier imo experience to ignore the minions as much as possible and focus on the main boss. Sleep > Then a War Drum by your Tank is usually a good method of keep the minions of your team, and off your mages.

Hi there, I have put a Toto Rak guide together from own experiences + feedback from other posts on various forums. Its still a little work in progress but the lion share of the work is done.
It is intended for use by our LS members but theres no reason not to share

It seems to do this if you're actively fighting the boss. When we've killed the minions beforehand it takes some time before any more appear, which makes me wonder if it is HP based or a TP move. This is just from when I've done it though, there might be a lot of other factors that triggers it. The Sleep spell is amazing for the boss for the reason that you said, but it is r32 so it might not be available for all groups. You are right about the babies coming nonstop once they do start getting called, though.

Had no idea specific items were tied to specific in-dungeon chests. Would explain why we haven't seen certain items at all yet.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa.

    Fabulous work on this topic!

My Sidquests topic is lazy in comparison to yours!

Actually, it seems to me that the minion re-spawn is tied to boss health level.

My strat so far has been thus: As the tank, I rush in and grab hate on boss and pull it away from the center, then the others grab the babies and AOE them down. If there's enough AOE to kill them quickly (i.e. Con/Arc/Mrd) there's usually enough time for the group to jump in and get a few attack rounds on the boss before the next round of minions spawn.

So far it's seems like every 1/4 of health brings new minions.

Any ideas as to what the conditions are to have the boss drop more chests? I usually see 2 on average from Antares and Sargas.
