Hi dear people of the forum and the poor team of Square Enix that works hard and hard only for receive 95% bad critics and 5% good feedback... Here I'll tell what in my own personal nooby opinion I like and dislike of new patch!:
<--- I like --->
- Ninja: Just awesome, rogue is not baddish but ninja is awesome. I'm an all-arounder that have never been too much in one class (Mainly leveling them all at same time and gearing them up together). But if I have some job to main now... It will be without no doubt this one. I would have liked it already just because of the concept and style the class has, as well as the tradition... But I have to say that you created a very good DPS. In lower levels it is a bit boring of using and not really so much difficult to use...But especially after 45 and 50 the thing changes a little, it transforms in my opinion in the most difficult job to max out (Sometimes I'm so focussed trying to deal the max damage that I eat some AoE... And that didn't happen so much with other classes) The way to perform mudras is awesome, to know how to analyze the situation and use each one...To always maintain the two DoT while also maintaining low resistance on the enemy...
The trait for having speed increased during combat is awesome (So far only monk could, risking 10% of damage so...). The trait for jumping from high zones and receiving almost no damage or not so much like the others is awesome and fits the class too. Hidden is awesome at lower levels (Before suiton) and I love how you must use your brain in the rogue and ninja quests and just don't run brainless attacking everything that appears. I love all that story of Doma, the village and the eastern continent...
But overall I love from this job the GOOD REWARDED DIFFICULTY. Meaning... If you have the dexterity and alert enough to use everything when you have to and you max it, it has proven to be the best of my nooby DPS (All of them same geared and zenith), probably an average ninja would share the damage with its counterparts, didn't test it yet. I also like that it is first clan purely for DPS meanings... It only has one buff for the party, only one, Goad, and it can rarely be used except if you have a good warrior needing it, another ninja or drg monk companion wanting to AoE, etc. (Mantra 5% crossclass is waste). DRG is also purely made for damage but have more defense. (Have to say, ninja can be very squishy, I don't recommend tanking with it. :3 )
Ninjas are funny to use with all those cooldowns and could have different ways to use them too...You're all of the time casting ninjutsu, running around, using cooldowns and normal combos, etc....I guess that even if your damage is not so good or you don't use it so well, it is typical class you still enjoying, that's why everyone uses it. (Especially being the novelty)
Only thing I miss from Ninja is to make it even more difficult, adding that you need to hit the enemy by the flanks or behind. Only trick attack and sneak attack have that.
And... After not queuing for Frontlines since my SCH and WHM saw Cleric Stance's banishment... I might try it again now that I have this job, hidden can give so many advantages and strategic stuff in PvP.... *-*
- Friend List: All the sorts we can use now in the friend list is really really helpful, to organizate it with groups... To also can filter when sending messages... It was a good idea.
- New hair styles: Of course, more customization is welcome! I especially love neko long hair and lala tails.
- Duty Restrictions: No more trolls in the ST queues! I personally think that the restrictions to those who do withdrawal (On purpose or not) is a very nice movement, as expected of the developers! (Only one thing I dislike of it, will be in the bad points).
- Hunt Is not 'THE WAY' anymore: I dislike hunt... I disliked being forced to obtain allied seals for buying sands of time or stuff like that, I dislike the whole stupidity of the linkshells... It is just plain boring, ask for linkshells, wait for monsters to be said in linkshell, teleport, say "Inv", get to a party, spam skills to one monster quick, take best rewards of the server... It was unbalanced, the unique way to do things faster... After being of those who loved to do brayflox and other stuff, hunt was a low hit. But! hunt is right now what it should have been since 2.3, just an alternative to those who dislike dungeon or are getting stressed-bored about them, etc.. Thanks to the new soldiery and poety, the ST without restrictions and other things hunt is not THE MANDATORY WAY to obtain everything fast. (Good movement that S only give 10 poety)
I'm glad I can finally delete my hunt linkshells and use my own for other purposes.
- New poety gear: It looks very cool! I like it.
- New Achievements: The idea of adding new rewards for commendations is very nice too. Perhaps people will farm it in low guildhests like happened with the magitek, but well... To those who don't it kind of incentives you a little more to do your best effort (In my case I don't recommend randomely or based in jobs, I do it based in effort and proficiency, work hard, lazy DPS!)
I just miss more all-arounder achievements(The Insatiable, for example), such as one for having all the relic animus or things like those.
- Increased Atma Drop: Finally... I think I have not to explain it myself since atma is the word of nightmares, I think we can't count the number of posts regarding that, isn't it? ^^.... I did four of them and stopped, because I kind of knew it would have been reduced for 2.4 (i110 weapon is super easy to take after all... Atma is i100...)
- Reduced the cost of the "Keeper's Hymn" from 10.000 to 250 seals: I think this is also one remarkable thing. Before ninja hype I liked SMN and SCH a lot, I can't say how many seals I wasted just using Keeper's Hymn... Now I can have various stacks of this item always in my inventory, nice!
Regarding the allied seals, I like the new screen for expert delivery too.
- Dragoon and PLD: The first thing I did after 2.4 came was take some of my not-so-lovely jobs and see their new adjustements... I'm talking about enhanced aggro for flash and Circle of Scorn in PLD and the shortened recast for Spine Jump and Dragonfire Dive. I have to say that.... They kinda needed it, holding aggro of a BLM with my PLD was not a good experience, even if I used the powered double circle of scorn. (My classes are undergeared compared with most, normal, I guess). I didn't notice that the delay after using the jumps in dragoon have been shortened, but the recast allows to do funnier AoE stuff with it now, having in my opinion a good power on it now. (And can be perfectly buffed by Ninjas now so... Ninja + Dragoon could be food melee aoe fun)
- The new dungeons: Well, new dungeons is always cool stuff! Especially with different mechanics etc... I could only play sunken temple hard by now (Busy with ninja after all). Tested it with my DRG and with NIN and I have to say that I like the first boss mechanic and the sinking sands (It gives some utility to Aetherial MAnipulation of the BLM and the teleport technique with name I can't remember of NIN). Final boss is a bit difficult and when the healer gets mummified yes or yes it is time to ninja run... (Does anyone know what's the utility of some drops there? I obtained some green-colored pants that says to be appreciated by collectors, etc etc)
- The permanent flag: Because it was weird time ago when you marked something in map for get into there and after you reopened the map again it wasn't there... Now life is easier! When I click to seeing a hunt and teleport to the map, I can always see where the hunt position is so I don't have to become mad with coords while inviting people... Also it is useful for marking map locations and other stuff I want. Best QoL addition in my opinion!
<--- I dislike--->
- The Queue: I have to admit that I love ninja job, indeed, but... It was really painful FATE grind to level it up to 50, okay, perhaps it wasn't so difficult to level but a bit boring... The situation of the queue is terrible right now. In my opinion, (And I love the job) I wouldn't mind to wait for ninja to be added in 3.0 with a healer and tank class, because right now adding another DPS turned it into chaos... I don't feel like farming my poetics or doing my new dungeons with my tanks or healers, and trust me, I don't think I'm going to use them anytime soon....
- Snowcloak: Because I have been busy with other stuff I haven't done most of main story stuff (Stuck yet in 2.0 in that sense)... It is a critical hit that now I have to rush throught it for unlocking this dungeon and so take duty expert roulette.... It is difficult to farm poety without the daily roulette...
- Duty Restrictions: It is just not right, in my opinion, that the entire party should receive penalization just because someone from it withdrew... Shouldn't just.. You know... The one who withdrew be the only one receiving the punishment? Is it made in the old psychology stuff of "If everyone pays for it, everyone will make the others prevent it"? Because I dislike those methods.
- Forum not up to date: Just for the lulz but.... Noticed I can't put Rogue/Nin as my main class displaying in forum, and of course I also dislike that!
<--- I don't care about --->
2.4 star crafts, more housing stuff, more gear for crafters and gatherers, more gathering stuff, more hildigang quests, more trials, more things for treasure maps, more pvp gear.
I don't care very much about crafters and gatherers after all... After making them 50 and having already my all-repair function, my own made glamours and some other things.. I don't see the point in wasting too many hours on something I don't enjoy so much as fighting... So having so little time I rather go and do some dungeons than do crafting grind. Poor Neko, she'll never eat some high quality good meal at this point, always dodo omelette... x'3
(It is my personal opinion, remember. I just don't care about it... Althought, have to say that having the possibility of finally share your gear for DoH is awesome, I have half the inventory space just for them... I'm starting to raise my reputation with the Ixals already)
<--- My hopes --->
- I just hope that ninja won't get eventually nerfed. It is hard to me to believe such a thing, because there are probably like... 60% loving the concept of the ninja? And perhaps 80% using them right now?... But... You know, there're always haters willing to spam forums and demanding nerfs, and sadly, many of those demands are taken in consideration too often.
I especially fear the following comment, repeated 'till dead in the cleric stance thing for PvP: "If a class is better than others when maxed out, even if it is difficult to master, then it needs to be nerfed!" (So... Difficult to use things should not be rewarded? Are you seriously telling me that the damage of a easy-to-use-class should be compared to a difficult-to-use-class one? Then what's the point in having extra difficulty?)
Right now I think that ninja is that DPS, and if people will start with those poisonous comments, we will have it nerfed just to be like the rest, or even worse, something difficult to use without rewards (So most average ninjas would have sucky damage compared to other classes)
- I also hope there will be be more customization for all classes overall in 3.0...Such a new system that makes you able to do things for increase-make better certain skills, and you have to choose which (Similar to PvP skills, shortening recast, adding aditional effects or more damage, or duration, or range!... I'd love to see something like that in PvE, it would help with customization and make game funnier indeed!). 4th lost Mudra for the ninja, Looking forward to it!
- Summoning retainers I'll still having my stupid dream of summoning my retainers in battle, remove my chocobo from the world (Perhaps feed it with poison) and train my retainers in the ninja arts, then equip them with some Assassins Creed gear!. By that time skills would probably be customizable so I'd rename one of them as Raijin, giving him Raiton enhanced, and the other one Fuujin with Huton enhanced!
<--- My overall opinion--->
I didn't have enough time for reading what others think about 2.4 in their own posts, because I guess nobody has so many hours for doing it neither, nevertheless I'd appreciate to know your opinions and I'll keep an eye to this thread ^^
2.4 has been the best patch I saw ever for ARR. (During the week I have to work and study, yet... I was one entire night without sleeping this Friday because I wanted to see my ninja 50, same geared than my other DPS and testing already with it, first time I do such a thing for a game, even if it was a weekend and Saturday is free party day)
Thanks everyone for reading and sorry, I'm from Spain and my English is not exactly the final getsuga tenshou. I also wrote all of this fast because I want to get back to the game (Can only play more than 3 hours the weekends) and keep farming atmas with my ninja! Didn't even check the text for obvious errors. (But at least I said my opinion, when there are bad things, we are the quick ones to spam the forums about it... Sadly for dev team it is not always the same when there are good things, I lived it from the other side too, time ago)
