    Suddenly Cannot Login

    Same login details since SE accounts were made available, same security token since they were first shipped.

    Get home today and suddenly cannot login to any SE service. FFXIV or Account site.

    I tried resetting my password and it prints "The entered password is invalid.
    Passwords composed of only alphabetic characters, only numbers, or only symbols cannot be used. Passwords including the same three characters in a row cannot be used. " above the text area for One-Time password.

    Any ideas? Am I boned and stuck wasting cellphone minutes on Monday to get everything fixed?



    Additional info:
    -Was logged into my main account, tried to login on my fiance's, who barely plays and I was going to leech a Teleport off of. Login was denied. Hour plus of frustration followed.
    -Win 7, with AVG always on.
    -Use Firefox's current version, up to date, with Noscript, ABP, etc.
    -I do not visit malicious sites or RMT sites.
    -I only disabled said Firefox plugins to try to get password reset working, thinking it was blocking it.

    One slight addition:
    -This month marks the first time I've deactivated my FFXI content IDs* on my four linked accounts since I bought/registered FFXIV. I have to wonder if this is somehow linked (not being paranoid, more like a glitch).

    Linkshell community beta site accepts my login and says "This PlayOnline ID does not have a FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID."


    Am I correct in guessing that it's the one time passwords being generated?


    *4 seems excessive to most players. Pay for myself, my Mithra ALT, my fiancee, and my son.

    No one has any ideas? This hasn't happened to anyone else? It's kind of alarming. Suddenly, after multiple years of use, my security token code isn't valid, even though the device seems to be functioning correctly.

    Guess I'll just be stuck on hold on Monday. Probably not much else I can do.

    You are using the security token tied to your FF11 account? I would not be surprised if you found a bug in the system because it was tied to your content ID from 11 - especially not surprised considering the cluster fuck that is converting POL accounts to SE accounts. I would suggest just trying to reactivate your token on your 14 account separately... but obviously if you can't log in you can't. Have you tried logging in without the token? Even through your account is not longer active for 11, have you tried converting from POL to SE and seeing if that clears it up? There's so many things going on right now with accounts its really hard to pinpoint the issue :/

    Yeah, I tried all sorts of things. Even the sillier ideas, like using my unattached CE security token that came with 14.

    I can't login to be able to convert my POL account to SE, so, yeah.

    Oh well, Monday morning wasted time it is.

    Wow, that was rude. Since I lost my ticket number from the weekend, I told the CSR that I was in the process of getting a new one and that it would be just a second. He evidently silently hung up on me and didn't say a word. 2 seconds later, I had it and he did not answer. Great to know that someone paying for multiple accounts for ~6 years is treated so well...

    I suppose I will be getting the name of the next CSR I talk to at this point!


    Now to wait even longer. What an ass...

    That's the goal of recording their name this time. This kind of behavior is inappropriate. You do not treat the people paying for your paycheck like this in any business. I know I would have fired any of my subordinates hanging up on a customer.

    Mostly steamed about it now that I'm spending additional time waiting when I was already in the process of getting a new ticket number (had lost mine since the weekend). 20 minutes and counting so far.

    After being on the line for about 35 minutes thanks to the first CSR, CSR Ben did the trivial task of unlinking my token from my account swiftly and politely. I didn't have to ask for his name, since he actually gave it to me.


    He told me that sometimes tokens get bugged after taking damage or some other random oddity occurs.
