Again, you and I are already paying the SE team to develop content for the game....this includes the vanity fluff stuff. You paid for that minion already, each month, you pay for them to work on content for this game.Minions cost money to make. You have to pay someone to design it, model it, texture it, animate it, make sounds for it, and implement it. How is it that different? It's not like when you use a fantasia you have to wait for some employee at SE headquarters to do anything. It all happens automatically. The aesthetician is just the character creator watered down, it's the exact same process except you're totally ok with paying real money for fantasia because of your imagined importance of it.
But you seem to be confusing me with someone who 'wants the current Cash Shop stuff for free' I don't. I just think it's beyond stupid to say 'hey SE, here's a list of things we'd like to see in game...but oh, charge me more money for it.' I don't disagree with peoples ideas of fun new things to have in game...but I disagree that we should be expected to pay additional costs for them. We already pay for the game. Every Month.
Now the list of things I am 'okay' with paying for, the reasons (which I listed previously) mostly have to do with limiting how often a player uses them, and okay I can understand charging people for it.
It really would be wrong for people to change their entire character model for free...esp when we have an in-game service that already allows for modest changes (barbershop). But by allowing people to purchase fantasia's, it allows people who decide to change their character, the option of doing so without re-rolling. It's not that I advocate charging for this vs. minions, but rather I can see an actual reason behind it. 1. People can't be lala>roe>kitty in the same day everyday, that's just madness and 2. It actually does benefit the truly interested player as it allows them to keep their character data/progression, and yet, change their entire look. Also, and this is important, the playerbase ASKED SE to make fantasia's purchasable via the Mog Station. For a long time, it was a top post.
Which btw, kinda proves my point when I asked ' Why in the world would you give SE a list of things you're willing to pay for? Why not just say 'we'd really like these things and let the cards fall where they may?" Because if you say 'yo, we'd pay for this!...you give them little reason to even consider making it part of the game, covered naturally by your sub fees' Who knows, maybe if people didn't beg so loudly to PAY for fantasia's, SE'd give us each a free one via moogle mail on our yearly anniversary? But since we said 'we'll PAY!' they thought' 'well sure, lets charge em.' (And no, I have no idea if that's how it played out...my point is, some of the things people are asking for, rightfully should be just part of the subscription and by LOUDLY suggesting 'we're cool with paying additional fees for x, you are setting yourself up for exactly that...even if they originally intended to implement x in game in a different, covered by your sub fees, way).
Retainers eat up extra storage so yeah, they should be paid for...that said, most of us wouldn't NEED retainers if SE made it so you could mail things to your alt....so while SE says that the reason we can't mail stuff to our own alt characters is 'RMT reasons' and part of it very well might be, another reason I am positive they don't allow it is because from the get-go they always intended on letting us purchase additional retainers for a fee. (This was well known even back in 1.0 as something that would sooner or later be an option). So maybe the reason you can't mail that stack of crafting mats to your alt for safe-keeping until you need them is ONLY so SE can try to squeeze the extra retainer money out of you each month. Wouldn't you rather just be able to mail items to your alts...and base your subscription plan accordingly?
Again, I'm not saying you are all coming up with bad ideas. I'm not even downright denouncing a cash shop...I'm just basically saying 'careful what you wish for.' And pointing out that the majority of things you all want could, and should rightfully just be a part of the game subscription...that you are already paying for. It'd be different if we didn't all pay each month to pay...and if that money didn't already more than pay for the game and it's development. This just reaks of money-grab to me. I'm fine with other's being okay with it. Being willing to pay for it. But for the love of the 12, don't actively suggest they lock things you WANT behind a pay wall. ...because they will.

That kind of thing I'd prefer to be in the actual game, personally. But it's an awesome idea and I'm surprised it isn't in the game... yet. o.OThought of another one. I would totally love display cases (like the ones in Skyrim) to display primal weapons in my private room. Some of the weapons just look so cool but I can't glamour all of them at once, so it would be neat to have them displayed another way.
Just a note. If you ask someone what they would like to see in the cash store, a valid response is "Nothing and here is why..."
It's not off-topic. It's answering your question.
Also, it is rather condescending to refer to any negative responses to the cash shops as "whines" in your OP and then tell people they can't respond if they disagree.
The only things I would spend cash on for this game would only be the services. Fantasia, name changes, server changes, and of course my subscription fee. The retainer service is kind of icky but I didn't mind spending the extra $2 a month on a service that I would get quite a bit of use out of.
I can tolerate minions and mounts. I don't have to buy them, but I would rather there be actual content behind the acquisition of said items rather than just a cash transaction. Slepnir especially, should be an ultra rare drop either from an Odin trial or Odin FATE to encourage continued participation. The minions could have been tied to content quests for each Scion.
The vanity items? Forget it. Especially the seasonal items with content attached to them. Just make all the seasonal quests doable each season, with all items earnable or buyable with gil. This game doesn't need to be like Tera.
All I want for Cashmas is minions and mounts that aren't exclusive.
I swear on all that is holy, it will not end well if they are.
I won't buy anything, unless the proceeds go to charity, that's the only time I've ever bought from a games cash store
Some stuff I'd like to see in the shop are:
- colored/motive skins for main menu and HUD elements like armory and inventory. The dark grey gets boring after a while.
- specific hair styles like Minfilia or the two new characters shown in the main story of patch 2.4 etc.
- minions
- old event items
- re-naming item

Well honestly I would like the option to allow my Male Mi'qote to be able to wear dresses and items that are female only. And I'm sure it not just me who would want and willingly give money over for that. Oh and of course Namingway cards, because the option to change one's name should be available also.
Yes, we do. But last month we didn't have the new cash shop minions in the game and next month we will...and we're paying the same price. So, you could argue that if you're willing to pay $X/mth for the game without the minions, then why should they add them in for free?
Personally, I think the game without the minions is a great value. I wouldn't want for them to increase my sub fee for the minions (and I'm not going to pay real money for them), but if others want to pay extra, fine.
