Proper ORDERED Search Results in the Market Wards - Please? _(._.)_

To: Yoshida-san & Final Fantasy XIV Team,

One request I had for the Market Wards is if you can please:

• Improve the *order* of Search Results when you go into the Item Search Menu in the Market Wards.
  
  Ideally, you would allow the Player to choose if they want to see items "By Alphabetical Order" or "By Rank (Low to High)" or "By Rank (High to Low)."
  
  But at the very least, if we can't get anything else, display the Items by their Rank Order.

Right now, when you Search for an Item in the Market Wards, the results displayed are NONSENSICAL and just seemingly random. Here's one example:

Searching for Miner's Primary Tool results in:

* Bronze Pickaxe (Rank 7)
* Iron Pickaxe (Rank 22)
* Polished Iron Pickaxe (Rank 32)
* Plumed Bronze Pickaxe (Rank 12)
* Iron Dolabra (Rank 42)
* Oiled Bronze Pickaxe (Rank 17)
* Dodotail Pickaxe (Rank 37)


??? What possible order methodology is this following?

This helps no one in the game, and only adds to confusion. It's not in alphabetical order. It's not by Rank.

Having an ordered Search Result (at the minimum by Rank, Low to High), will at least add some semblance of order and help New and Veteran Players quickly go through Search Results and find the proper Rank (or near future Rank upgrade) that they want.

It also helps crafters with selling their items, because sometimes, the randomly dumped items at the bottom of a Search Result (out of order), results in people just not bothering going through the whole list and just jumping to something close to their next Rank that's near the top of the search results.

Hopefully we get a Dev Response on this.

Current order i would assume is in order of appearance on the wards.
That said i agree with your suggestion, always a bother to have to look at every single item before you can even start looking for what you need. xD

1000 times yes. Search order and different filters for that order would be awesome beyond compare. If the logic they use for ordering things in this game (which I think is similar to what one of my profs in university used to joke he did to mark tests ie. throwing tests down a flight of stairs to grade them) follows any logic they use for other unrelated business lists or charts I fear for SE. Common sense and this entire MW system (the search functions especially) fought and the system beat common sense to death and hid the body in a shallow grave somewhere.

Of course it's not as important as Combat System changes, but I'd imagine the UI Team / Market Team should have this on their task list.

Especially if they want to make it as user-friendly as possible for the PS3 Launch.

I wholeheartedly agree with this recommendation!!! FFXI's AH was... "flawed" to put it politely, but at least it was in some recognizable order! This change will make things somewhat easier to find - although the best scenario would be a text-input search capability!

I think current order is the item's ID number in the database. This would explain why the newest items are always at the bottom. So it's basically a database query without any sorting. They probably did this because sorting large database tables consumes a lot of resources. I'm sure it can be put on the "server upgrades" waiting list.

Personally, I wish they could differentiate between NQ and HQ items in the lists.
