Unable to access server for version check?

I just reinstalled FFXIV and when I try to start it up I keep getting this error come up:

11023 Unable to access server for version check 2.20455.20457

Are the servers down or something atm or is this a bug?

I have also uninstalled again and reinstalled as searching through the threads someone suggested trying that but that still hasn't worked.

Anyone got any idea's what to try next as I haven't got a clue ; ;

I'm in game right now on lindblum so the servers are not down.

are you on Vista or 7? sometimes Windows 7 or Vista will "block" updates from games, try to right click and "run as administrator" usually this with fix that sort of issue

I actually had that problem quite a few times and my solution was to delete the "Downloads" folder in the in My Documents-> My Games-> Final Fantasy XIV. After wards, recreate another "Downloads" folder and try it again.
