    [Suggest] Open World Dungeon Idea

    This is really a simple concept that tells the story between a normal dungeon and how they go to the hard mode state.

    Toss in some dailies, FATEs, hunt NM, sightseeing, and rare spoils to make it meaningful content instead of just fluff.

    Now take Halatali. Ul'dah staff has to turn it from dungeon to training ground. That requires capturing the animals, building traps, and repairing structure. I'm sure there is a few hold over monsters from the old dungeon that needs to be cleared as well.

    Edit: You could also use this to add light party based content such as group dailies.

    Sadly, because of the duty system in place, I have a sneaking suspicion that in world dungeons outside of fates won't ever happen. The Duty system was one of my BIGGEST pet peeves upon being invited to stage 3 beta. Since then, I've realized it's here to stay and my hopes or in world dungeons are in vain.


    TL;DR: Give it up, it's never going to happen.

    Did you even read my post. It has nothing to do with actually 4 man dungeons runs but adding the dungeon maps to the open world, though i suppose you can make them areas that require a light party for group based dailies and such.

    But then the solo MMO players would be left out or forced to become part of a community.

    I know it's a foreign concept to many but MMOs used to be based around your servers community.

    Would love to see open world dungeons reappear. Have stuff that cannot be designed for solo in the openworld.

    But then again. WIll this negativly impact those who refuse to party? Remember the definition of a mmo is not playing together anymore. It is millions of people soloing around you......................(Insert alot more dots). If it hurts the lowest common denominator you cannot do it.

    But seriously I think it would be a good idea. Just make it where the rewards are relevant and not all vanity and it would be an improvement to the openworld content.

    I do think that 2.3 and hunts to be specific has showed a different side to ARR in that people don't mind specific content focused more toward group based themes as long as it's well balanced. In fact it was more appealing to players because hunt was more casual and easy to get into that say Coil or EX Trails. People play in groups all the time in FFXIV just not open world due to system designs. If you made group based dailies that are casual and don't require a pass or fail approach, I think it would be welcomed.

    The only compliant I had about hunts is being required to wait for the server to show up to kill a solo-able mob. Only reason I don't join hunt parties is because i'm in queue working on animus or pvp gear.

    I would love if the dungeons were open to explore even outside of duties, just with different (perhaps unique) mobs and maybe even some solo to light party quests that can be completed within them. Make any loot worth getting from the open world dungeon be from non-campable mobs somehow. Open world dungeon leves?

    Unique Gathering nodes could be inside them also.
