After countless fruits used trying to achieve Currant Purple, following your steps got me that elusive colour in the first go. Thank you SO much, Aurhyn.Hey there, thank you for your answer !
I did a few maths with what you're suggesting and what I was thinking to do, this is what I find assuming that we move the scale of 6 points (I took the max even though it was said here that it's probably between 3 and 6) :
That seems tricky to select one of those two XD !
[FONT="Comic Sans MS"] have done everything I can to get to Soot Black But every resource I have found and use does not work for me. I always end up with a color I wasn't even aiming for, So far it has let me down. I have blown so much Gil trying to Get soot Black.
Current Color:Marsh Green
Desired Color: Soot Black
If you have any hints or tips to Help me get to soot Black I will really be indebted to you.
any chance of a metalic colored choco?
I haven't helped anyone with chocobo dye in ages and I was going to suggest using the FFXIV Chocobo Colour Calculator by Chopski but it seems it's offline. Chopski if you're still reading any of these threads you should get it working again. This means that we're going to have to do some napkin math. It also looks like the original RGB sheet is gone so I'm going to use AttacKat's RGB Colors (again assuming they haven't been changed).
Chocobo Fruit
Plum - Lightens red hues but at the same time increases green and blue hues.
Apple - Deepens red hues but at the same time lessens green and blue hues.
Valfruit - Lightens green hues but at the same time increases red and blue hues.
Pear - Deepens green hues but at the same time lessens red and blue hues.
Pineapple - Lightens blue hues but at the same time increases red and green hues.
Berries - Deepens blue hues but at the same time lessens red and green hues.
Plum (-5, +5, +5)
Apple (+5, -5, -5)
Valfruit (+5, -5, +5)
Pear (-5, +5, -5)
Pineapple (+5, +5, -5)
Berries (-5, -5, +5)
*Note: Using the +/5 integer for easier calculations (this is an approx.).
-------------------------------------------
Starting Colour: Marsh Green
RGB Estimation: 52R, 56G, 34B
Desired Colour: Soot Black
RGB Estimation: 45R, 43G, 36B
Napkin Math
This is based on the +/5 integer for easier calculations. Focus on getting 1 value at a time to the desired colour range (I started with G below which also moved R), then move on to your next value (I focused on bringing the B back down while keeping R/G stable).
2 Berries (-10, -10, +10): 42, 46, 44
1 Apple ( +5, -5, -5): 47, 41, 39 (You could try to stop after the Apple, it might still get you into Soot Black range.)
1 Pear ( -5, +5, -5): 42, 46, 34 <- End RGB Value
-------------------------------------------
You could attempt to stop after 2 Berries + 1 Apple. This feed combo might still trigger Soot Black. The differences between adding 1 pear aren't huge jumps in numbers, approx. 2 -3 points, but I was just trying to do a bit of fine tuning. No guarantee this will break your loop but... for science!

so I want a metalic gold choco what do i dye it from lotus pink?
Damn it all, the Shale Brown algorithm on http://ffxivchocobo.com/en is off!
Followed the calculator completely and ended up with Aldgoat Brown.
Now my chocobo looks just kind of... Sweaty rather than a silky, smokey silver.
It is not that the algorithm is wrong. The thing you have to realize anytime you are dying a bird is that you can get "good" and "poor" procs on the food. there is also the question of whether you were alternating food or not. If you were not alternating you could have over saturated one color and got off in that manner. You just have to now change the start color to your current color to see what additional feeding is needed.
There's a random element. Recalculate after color changes and keep going. Will eventually hit right color. Think took me 6-8 sessions to get right color on old account
