I voted no. It would be way too easy for someone with a bad rep to wash their slate clean.

They do that now with Alt characters, since someone decided that the blocklist was tied to characters rather than accounts.

When I made my character I decided on making a girl, I'm not a girl, and now I regret it. If I decide to change my character to a male I'll be stuck with a female name and I'd hate that. At least let me have the option of changing my first name. I hate being stuck.

I have my name because my roommates I was living with at the time had similar names and we were all playing together. Now they have since long stopped playing and I'm stuck with a name that I never really cared for in the first place. I was fine at first but now its actually starting to get under my skin. I don't want to play as the Miqo'te race either. My name just came from my buddies cat haha. It's just a dumb names. I just want to get rid of it. I can't take my character seriously when NPC's are shouting "MEOWGI!" I laugh.. but deep inside.. It's tears.

I totally support this, especially with the fact that we have fantasia potions available now, and there's a new race on the horizon. I play on the Balmung server, and I'm part of the RP community, and having my characters follow the naming conventions of their race is pretty important to me. Square Enix took the time to come up with some pretty awesome naming conventions for each race, and it would be nice to be able to use them if one switches a character's race with a fantasia.

They have the technology. When the game first launch, and there was a screw up with the 1.0 characters and saved customisations, they had a webpage form we could use to file for a name change. It's not like they can't finish that up for a full on name change service.

For those worried about reputation, they can have a track back feature like every other MMO, where it shows what the character's former name was - except in special cases that involve things like stalking, in which case a GM needs to be contacted anyway. It's not that hard to keep the reputation following the player via the Lodestone.

I'm really hoping they add some sort of name change system. I come from GuildWars2 where you can change your name as many times as you please (paid service) and I would love something like this

I'm on the fence with this one.

Our former FC leader kicked everyone out of the FC and took the house, that everyone built, for himself and his IRL brother. Square Enix is not doing anything about it because it is an FC issue. If he had a new name, he can just leave the FC to his brother, make a new FC and scam a bunch of other people.

Ah, I read one of the suggestions. A track back feature through Lodestone would be nice, if ever a name change gets implemented.

Yes, I support this, why not? I hate my character's name. I gave my character the name "Emil" Because I had finished playing the game Nier and "Emil" was the only name that came to my mind when I was trying for names cuz it seemed that all the names that I wanted were taken, and I bet those characters probably doesn't even play this game anymore T_T. The last name "Taylor" comes from the voice actress' last name, yes, a girl did his voice. I thought the name Emil was cool but I don't like it now. I also found out that Emil had a crush on the main guy, I guess, and my sister who also plays the game keeps making fund of me. Her name is Ashelia B'nargin from FF12. I about to pay 36$ to change my name cuz its not working out. People are over reacting. Like someone said before, it's possible to change the character's name for a very high price and a lot of people goes through the process to do it so why not make it official and reduce the price?
