The yukatas for ladies are terrifying.

Yukatas are made of cloth. So why are the sleeves on these yukatas not animated? They are sharp as knives and do not flow like cloth does. I feel like when I run I'm going to accidentally stab someone with my lethal sharp sleeves.

In unrelated news: Why are the yukatas only waist length?

They seem to follow the trend of the short/mini yukata. Why it's also that short for men when that has never been the style for men, I have no idea lol.

I think so far the only armor I've seen with animated sleeves is the Divine Harvest/Divine Death robes. It's possible the new yukatas were made before sleeve movement was tested (almost as if right now they're testing sleeves with movement with those 2 robes) or they just didn't want to bother since the original yukatas from 1.X probably didn't have moving sleeves.

Because they do exist for men..? While I agree it's not AS short, but they definitely do have short styles...remember, with XIV ARR they're going more for 'universal' designs when it comes to everything armor and animation wise at least. So they didn't really want to design 'medium length' ones specific for men as that would actually take some dev time

Ikr, it would take too much work to extend the skirt for guys to the knees. XD At this rate they should have just given us girls the yukatas and given guys jinbeis. My friend that I did the event with wouldn't even wear his yukata shorts because they were so short. lol

I always wanted them to add longer traditional like Kimonos too, but looks like they don't want to or maybe will do it later...but you can sorta make a long Kimono style outfit with the spring skirt like I do on my MNK vanity. It works pretty well ^^

Not to be a "know-it-all," just to be informative, traditionally yukatas are long as well. There are a few differences between yukatas and kimonos, mainly that yukatas are almost only worn in summer, are cotton, and are a single layer compared to kimonos which are generally not worn in summer, are silk, and have at least two layers/collars. I totally hope they bring us kimonos, maybe during winter, just thought it would be helpful to note that you'd never see a kimono in summer, and that most yukatas are no shorter than a regular kimono. :P

Depends on the time period and trends actually, for a time knee/shin high yukata was popular. Also depending on the status of the wearer the kimono could literally be long enough to drag behind them like some wedding dresses at least in olden times. While I wouldn't mind seeing traditional kimono in the game, it'd be reaaaaaaaally hard to animate them since traditionally you don't have a whole lot of leg movement in kimono. On a side not they should have called the male equivalents happi coats judging by the length of their yukata.

How dare you, you "know-it-all"?! How dare you be nice enough to take the time to explain something that I honestly didn't know? GOSH!

I kid, thank you, genuinely for your explanation, I'm not versed in japanese culture in the slightest so I found it pretty interesting and informative.
