    Idea for Red Mage maybe? (Work in progress)

    Red mage:



    Hybrid dps class (Deals unaspected Magic damage and Physical damage.)

    Three Stances based on decisions made. Each stance switch would trigger a cooldown (no certainty on length)

    Stances are:


    Magic Stance - Focuses on Magic damage, gain access tot he best spells a red mage can use. Increases spell damage
    while increasing cooldown timers. Decreases cast times marginally. Limits access to physical skills.

    Neutral Stance - Focuses on versatility, providing access to upper mid range spells and physical skills.
    Provides a slight buff to both magic and pyshical damage. Allows access to Spellblade attacks.

    Sword Stance - Focuses on fast, positional precise strikes. Gain access to best physical skills a red mage can use.
    Bonus effects added to upper mid range and lower skills based on position. Attack speed would increase.
    Cooldown timers increased. Spells lose effectiveness. Limits spell access.

    When a skill is used in their specialized stance (Magic or Sword), they have a increased cooldown that continues
    through a stance change.

    Example: A cooldown of 25 is caused by casting x spell in magic stance.
    X spell retains the current state of the cooldown when swapping stances until officially off cooldown.

    Weapon types used:

    Aetheric Sword (Primary slot. Sword is placed in sheath right hip when in Magic Stance.)
    Radiant Focus (Offhand slot. Focus is placed on left hip when in Sword Stance.)

    Clothing: Specialized armors. (Can use Cloth armors or Light armors (puglist?) otherwise.)

    Classes required to unlock:
    30 GLA
    30 CNJ
    30 THM

    Starts at level 30 without the usual selection of base spells/skills from parent classes.

    Bonus/Extra:
    Focus can be adjusted by giving it different crystals. Stats remain unaffected, but tweaks the colors of the spells used.

    Questline starting point: Limsa Lominsa (Potentially takes to dungeon and Outer La Noscea.)

    Spell examples:

    Gravity - Cast time: 3.5s (2.5 in Magic Stance), Cooldown: 7s (12s in Magic stance) range: 30y, radius: 3y, Potency: 130 (230 in Magic Stance), Causes Slow 10s

    Bolt - Cast time: 3s (0s in Magic Stance) Cooldown: 2.5 (7s in magic stance) Range: 30y, radius: null, Potency: 90 (150 in Magic Stance),
    Effect(only in Magic stance): Marks the target with aether, causing it to take increased damage from Spellblade attacks for 20s.

    Sword Skills:

    Arc Blade - Cast time: 1.5 (0 in Sword Stance), Cooldown: 2.5s (6s in Sword Stance), Range: Melee, Radius: Null, Potency: 120 (190 in Sword Stance, requires placement at Back or sides of target.)
    Effect(Neutral stance Only): Counts as a Spellblade strike when in Neutral Stance.
    Effect(Sword Stance Only): Causes the next spell or spellblade attack to bounce, hitting up to two targets off the primary within 5y.

    Swift Slash - Cast time: 0 (1s in Sword Stance), Cooldown: 4s (7s in Sword Stance), Range: Melee, Radius: Null, Potency: 150 ( 225 in Sword Stance.)
    Effect(Sword stance only): Strikes Twice in rapid succession, Causing a bleed effect that last 18s, dealing a potency of 15 per a tick (tick = 3s)

    Basically I wanted to play a red mage and started up the idea of how it would function. The idea of using both magic and sword base skills comes from the idea of being a jack of all trades type class.

    The Stance idea came about when I wanted some way to make the class have a way to provide a meaningful challenge while still providing the means to feel unique. Each stance functions differently from the others. Sword Stance focuses on the more direct methods of combat. Magic Stance focuses more on... well... magic. Neutral stance opens up both, allowing that versatility that Red mages are known for. Skills and abilities would change up according to what stance you are in. Trying to cast a spell in Sword Stance is generally not recommended as it has lowered effectiveness, though a select few will causes some special effects. Trying to use a Sword skill in Magic stance will also operate in the same manner.

    Neutral stance, however, works out to be different, having access to both worlds but limits access to spells usable (removes access to high end spells in both types.) To counter act that function, Neutral stance allows access to a unique feature known as Spellblade. Specific skills act as spellblade attacks. The idea is that a spellblade attack is a enhancement strike that can do a variety of things as you use magic attacks and sword attacks, causing the two to interact. A example would be if you cast a ice based spell, your next sword strike would count as a ice-type spellblade attack in addition to its usually effects and stats.

    you can get by the character limit by editing a post, so you don't haev 6 post, your rdm has some issues, such as being stuck in stances, basicly what you described was a monk that doesn't have any flow. Their are also things, like using crystals, that do't make since. The dev team has stated they won't use consumable for a job. a more appropriate way would have rdm bounce in and out of astral fire using enfire, and umbral ice using en blizzard, like a blm does, and it does dot's during ice, and physical with + magic dmg during fire phase.
