    Legit Way to FIX Hunts for Good

    .

    DISCLAIMER: please, before you read "Tag" & think "Claim", please read the entirety of the post & realize this' an INCLUSIVE solution that fits well into the current cooperative nature of Hunting & not an exclusive one.

    .


    Give us all an ability, "Tag Mark".

    The finder comes upon the Mark, they tag it.


    Then either 1 of 2 things happens, depending on SE's preference.

    1) the creature becomes invulnerable for 2 minutes while your allies gather.

    2) the creature becomes invulnerable for 1 minutes, your allies are offered a teleport to your location* (1 minute to compensate for slow load-times).

    What Tag Mark does is either double-triple the contribution score of your party against the mark* (after the invulnerability has worn off).



    After the invincibility expires, the Mark is 'Tag-Immune' for like 4-5 more minutes.

    Tag-Immunity prevents the Mark from being retagged by somebody else... this prevents abuse cases of people Tagging & leaving, etc. This also flags the system for your party's contribution bonus.

    Additionally, once the invincibility wears off, anyone can then attack/pull the mob. 1-2 minutes untouchable is a sufficient waiting time & people can still do as we've done on Coeurl & try to enforce some kind of 'house rule'/etiquette/pull-time.



    Additions which compliment this idea well (practically required to solve Hunting's Issues):


    1) Prevent mob-reset. Rather drop the resettor off the enmity list & have the mob bump up enmity target # 2. In this system, healthy mob resetting (counteracting troll pullers) won't be a necessity, and unhealthy mob resetting will be eliminated.

    2) Prioritize mark rendering. We all know the plethora of issues with mobs phasing out of existence, SE this' a must, no argument there.

    3) Alter contribution formulae. This' my personal throw-in & not necessarily required. Though I think it's cheesy & lame the way the current system rewards gross overhealing spam. Best way to full-credit? Prep Medica II, tap the mob once with Aero I, then Medica spam for days. Solution? Significantly increase the contribution score from damage-dealing & (maybe) decrease the contribution score from overhealing. With the former, at least damage-comps can earn their deserved credit rather than not standing a chance most of the time.



    *Members must be in-party at the time of the Tag to receive this bonus.


    Done & done. Hunts fixed.

    P.S. S Ranks can not be Tagged.

    Not at all.

    It's that 40 people can easily come steam-roll through & 'steal' your find before your party arrives... especially given their radars.

    Or one other 8-man comes up after you and takes it, or force-resets it over and over.

    Plenty of abuse-cases.

    My suggestion simply (1) prevents a ton of abuse & (2) rightfully benefits the actual finder.

    Additionally, most Hunts parties (at least on Coeurl), don't roam together in a large pack, they cover separate regions on their searches.

    Also, you skipped the part where 1 minute was to compensate for slow-load times or arrival.

    Better way to fix the hunt system:

    - Offer an alternative way of getting Allied Seals that's just as effective as hunting elite marks.

    You can't fix what isn't broken.

    I'm sure when they drew this up on paper they didn't expect an entire server community to rush up and kill these together. That was just a courtesy the community itself (for a couple days anyway) was willing to extend. SE even raised the HP values a bit in response to this.

    If you're able to find people that are willing to share information then great. Otherwise, you need to find these yourself and find a circle of people you're only willing to share the info with so you're able to get credit.

    SE can't please everyone, but I think the system is working within its expectations.

    Perhaps you haven't experienced how ugly it's gotten with Hunts on some servers. But the system is frequently harmful to the playerbase.

    Inequitable due to poor rendering.

    Unfair due to reset-exploitation.

    Cheapened by third-party cheating.

    Poor contribution calculations heavily favoring "cheese tactics" (e.g. mass overhealing).

    Finders frequently get cheated out of potentially 'deserved' credit due to cheats/trolls.

    The list goes on and on.

    Another thing that would "fix" hunts is these hunt linkshells indentifying the maybe 5-10 ppl that actually scout for marks then kicking all the leeches that just sit around and wait for coords to get posted.

    If you actively run zones for marks you tend to see maybe the same 30 ppl doing the same at any given time yet when a mark is found suddenly 80-500 ppl are running to the location and it tends to be these ppl that just wait for coordinates that pull early cause they pull it the moment they get there.

    Also the load priority thing they said they did for S rank marks doesn't seem to be working as they are still getting clipped off screens due to model limit and said priority setting should be placed on all elite marks not just the S rank.

    I also think these elite marks need to be beefed up more so that mindless swarming will just result in mass death.
