There is no confirmation on SE's part. There was datamined traits for what we assumed as Rogue's for DEX but there was an interview where they aren't sure which stat to make it. They will let us know in due time.

At E3, Yoshi recommended holding onto your melee DPS gear for rogue/ninja release. That strongly implies str.

I'm hoping it's STR, been stockpiling STR accessories and Monk gear, in case they allow Ninja to use up to i110 Monk gear.

Another dex-based class would, right now, make a lot of sense. There's 2 str DPS, 2 int DPS, 2 mnd healers, 2 vit tanks, and 1 dex DPS. Another dex DPS would even out the gear a bit.

Some people think it fits more thematically, and it does (seeing a ninja clobbering something with a ton of strength isn't what most people think of when they think of a ninja fighting.) The thing is, they can make the armor say Strength and still show the Ninja animations be graceful, speedy and precise to fit that assumed aesthetic.

I imagine it'll be Strength, since the decisions for a lot of things in this game are meant to cater to newer players and switching up a single melee class to have their damage scale with dexterity instead of strength could be confusing for some people.

I don't really mind, they can work with either STR or DEX, but what I want to focus is about the part whether it seem to be a debuff + DPS or just a pure DPS.

In any MMO, you can only become the best at one thing. Any hybrid class will never become the top of line DPS. So if Ninja can deal both spell damage and physical damage, then he is going to be bad at both. If he focus on just one type of damage, then he may get chance to be the top. And in this sense, I think that if it is confirm that Ninjutsu will debuff enemy, then I can totally see that it will be the class opposite to bard with debuff instead of buff. Overall dps will be weaker than pure DPS class such as Monk for sure.
