Remove the hunt until the system works as intended.

I had nothing against the way this system worked, handing free i110 gear to the casual/mainstream part of the playerbase until i discovered how naive i was to think it was an innocent fun content.

Indeed, and i'm not exaggerating, every single so called "hunter" is using a radar to make the process even quicker. Apparently, it wasnt easy nor quick enough for the players to get free sands, oils and alexandrites, they needed an even more...convinient way to get them.

I already see everyone with their torches and pitchforks, hading out their pre-made judgement saying i'm victim of the special snowflake syndrom or whatever. Reread what i wrote: i personally had nothing against this system.

I just cant stand the fact the only part of the database taking profits of it are....cheating casuals.

What kind of content is that?

And to everyone defending the tool saying that it isnt as bad as everyone make it sounds...Yes, it is. It's not because a monster is in render range that you can necessarily see it, especially depending the computer/console you use. Ontop of that, as far as i know, this game doesnt allow you to see thru walls and inside of a crater just like as if you were looking at it thru clear water.

This is why, in my opinion, the system should be completly removed from the game for now, until SE finds a way to get around it, wether it's radical, like a force pop, or tricky, like removing certain kind of monsters from the client memory and handling them server-side.

A rollback wouldnt be a good idea, considering some players actually got a few sands and/or alex in a legitimate way.

Until it is done, to everyone against cheaters, i highly recommend to report any suspicious player you see staggering around in the overworld. Cheaters are usually standing at the same spot, running toward chocobos and treasure map monsters, and never check the tricky spots of the area, only standing in the middle of the road going back and forth.

Give it a like and bump the post if you agree, and, hopefully, in a near update this system will be removed.

Only way to really fix hunts completely is to make them force-pops, but the reason they added hunts in the first place was because people wanted open-world NM that weren't FATEs.

Yes the system needs a major over haul and I do think they need to go back to the drawing board, but you are seriously over exaggerating about everyone hunting using the radar,
I hope they find a way to trace the tool and lifetime ban every single person that uses it, as it is game breaking hunt wise, and I personally would never use it and I'm an active hunter
Another post had a better idea, I wish i could find it but seems mods deleted it, about adding a hunt log similar to fishing log, and track the hunts in there, and make it a kill once a week and no more reward from that hunt till reset

Add a claim system to the Hunts. Once say.. 24 players are on the mark, lockout anyone else trying to land a hit.

Unfortunately no matter what they do, someone will find a way to cheat and abuse the system. It's inherent and really all one can do is try to stem the tide. I agree that the hunt mechanic is an issue, I don't think NMs should be a.) easy to find or b.) easy to kill. And I highly believe that calling the server every time you find a B-rank and having the Zerg come to consume is like swatting a fly with a tactical nuke, but everyone believes they're entitled to a portion of every NM on the map.

I've also found it funny when I was told the 'community' on my server had 'come together' over Mumble and loads of FCs and LSes we're sharing information making it 'fair for everyone'. Of course, there was no memo about this, so if you're not in the know then you're not part of the community... Which means you don't hear about the NMs since no one calls them in chat anymore, so who really is 'the community'? More akin to forming a mafia, and if you cross them, well... Don't expect you'll be getting any assistance after that.

I personally don't have a fix for this, but outright removal sounds a bit much. Caps are probably a better idea, to be honest, but then it goes against what the hunts were meant to be in the first place.

Sadly this is the truth and it's just how I remember it in FFXI. Why I voted against it in 1.0.

I actually agree with every single point you make here, except that cheaters exist in both the raiding and non raiding camps. I have nothing against sands/oils being awarded to non raiders (as this was the case in 2.1) but when these are freely handed out without any sort of cap further assisted by third party programs which SE seems to turn a blind eye to even though it violates their own TOS just reeks of hypocrisy.

Some people already have 5-6 sands since the patch was released when some people in my static have not even gotten one even though we have cleared t8 for 6 weeks now. How is this even fair? Sure, I can join farm parties and use the radar app or whatever but forgive me if I don't want to run around like a headless chicken being mind controlled by our SE overlords just to kill an "elite" mob that dies in 5 seconds. Hardly anyone wants to do Ramuh Ex or coil anymore, why should they when you can get the best gear from "hunting"?

But you know what's the worst thing? Remember the atma fiasco when it first released? One of the biggest complains was that fates were no fun because its basically running around killing level 3 mobs. Well guess what, this is exactly the same because the elite mobs literally die in seconds, a minute or so if its S rank. I wonder where these people are now, probably happily farming their sands I presume. How quickly stories can change when end game gear is involved. And I thought we "hardcores" were the ones to care about gear progression. The irony.

This whole hunt thing has really left a sour taste in my mouth. I previously praised SE for many of their game decisions but this one is one of the worst decisions I have seen implemented in any mmos. Its really sad because everything else in 2.3 has been a blast, but this one thing has left me with little motivation to log into the game since doing hunts seem like the only productive thing left to. The rest is just fodder.

Hunts are worse in XIV compared to NM's in XI simply because you at least knew the area they would pop in with XI so even if you didn't get a chance to kill it you knew it died. From this you could work out when you would need to come back for the next repop, whereas in XIV you wait and wait and wait with no idea unless people tell you when it's dead and thats unlikely to work all the time.

I think the least the devs could do is add a wide scan feature to negate everyone cheating, but that wouldn't solve all of their issues. Personally I don't know how they can fix this situation but I would say they need to do something soon as this has gone completely wrong. I would say popularity would die down but given the rewards from hunts, it won't die down anytime soon.
