Agreed. Combat text should be customizable.

There is the option to turn off flying text for enfeeblements and enhancements. Under UI settings -> HUD -> Flying Text.
EDIT: Nevermind. This toggles the "Status Effects" HUD element. Confusing. I'd expect to see these "Display HUD elements" window while "HUD Customization" is enabled. Instead you see a window with one small drop down menu containing over twenty HUD elements in a menu that only shows five elements at a time, a"Default" button that reset your entire HUD, not the element listed just above it, and a "Save" button. I'll admit, the "Save" button does what I'd expect.
Then turn it off while gathering.

This^ please allow us to turn off this notification in the middle of our screens for both gathering and when something sells on the markets.
I agree. Especially for buffs like mnk/blms that refresh almost every cast.
In T6 the flying texts really gave me a headache lol. I turned all effects off and names only initials to ease the pain but since you stand very close to each other for the entire fight, the flying texts still made it a mess for the eye. Especially Eos. I like her healing but she is veeery talkative. :xd So big Yes for customizable flying texts. All on, all off, own/others on/off and I am happy.![]()
Add ons. SE - save yourselves a lot of development time. Introduce a kit. Let US handle this mundane work for you, and break anything you don't like.
Take this VERY IMPORTANT page out of the Blizzard development handbook, and do yourselves a favor and don't do a half-ass job like Trion did.
This is a winning formula for gaining many more players who like a customizable UI and smooth gameplay experience.
This of course assumes that UI modification in this game is as easy as in those other games. Given the way that SE operates, I wouldn't be surprised to find that the UI is embedded completely in the rest of the code, rather than a separate system that calls the game code.Add ons. Having an opinion does not make you right or wrong, it simply means you have an opinion. Don't get irritated when people don't agree.
While I do hope they add add-on support, it wouldn't get them out of taking care of all the UI issues themselves. Too many players won't have access to add-ons if they can't be used on the console systems.
+1 for the OP
I was just discussing this with my FC members today. It would be a great addition!
Greetings,
While we would like to look into setting display options for various types of flying text, we are currently addressing other aspects that have a high priority, so we do not have any specific plans for this at the moment.
We’ll let you know if the status of this changes.
