Which is very nice ^^
New max perhaps later with a lvl cap raise? maybe.
Until they don't allow them to be a real companion, like a bear for a Ranger or the Egis, I don't see much of a point to just have them around even in the outfield, since when you fate party, you have to let go of them for another player, which is fine but defeats it's purpose a bit.
So for soloers it's very handy. Otherwise..
And I'm ok with the xp boost we get from the challenge log now. I'll be hitting Rank 9 tomorrow, worked less hard than others from 2.0, but I wonder if all their classes are maxed (19)
To each their own fun I guess ^^
Excited about the color change: afraid there will be lot's of black ones, but hey, need to suit my name and dark theme muhahahaha!
Greetings,
In order to receive your first set of barding for your companion, you only need to reach rank 10. So if you have yet to receive your first set of barding, you can reallocate your points to the one you wish to obtain and then go retrieve it. However, to receive the second set of barding onward you will have to break the rank cap.
And yes, you'll be able to use all the barding you obtain.
Also, as another small tidbit, the item needed to reset your companion’s skill points can be obtained using grand company seals and through other means.

That's great.Greetings,

Now let's see how long it takes to reach max rank now :P
Camate's info is way more user friendly than I originally thought it would be! I thought for sure that they would hold off on respec, and even drop it, in favor of raising a second chocobo from rank 0. Each time you wanted a piece of barding, you would have to get a new chocobo (either bred or bought when chocobo raising patch comes out) to rank 10. That means for those that originally opted for a hybrid path, they would have to rank up 3 other chocobos from rank 0-10.
Given SE's history for favor of "longevity" in the game, this sounded like the most logical option, but grats from learning their mistakes and listening to the playerbase! I know many people would rather try and farm 9 atma relic weapons than level up 3 separate chocobos from rank 0, even if you CAN measure their rank progress. XD
lol, expect the worst and you won't be disappointed, though I'm sure there will still be complaints about not enough ways to level your chocobo (need choco dungeon) or the grind from 10 to 11 is mind numbing.

Very much appreciated.
so my speculations were true, very happy ^^
Rank 9 now, should be ready to break the cap soon! Hehehe
Let's have fun folks!
For all we know, we'll have to grind the choco to 30 to unlock everything. Leveling a choco is horribly boring.
And it may be off topic, but while in Healer stance, the chocobo has a tendency to want to be as close to you as possible and this causes it to be hit by frontal cone attacks constantly. I know they take less AoE damage, but the fact that I can't even maneuver the mob between me and the choco to put the choco at the rear of the mob without the choco racing around to be near me is very annoying.
Why can't we have the pet commands for the chocobo? guard, heel, stay, steady place, sic and obey. For all we know, we'll have to grind the choco to 30 to unlock everything. Leveling a choco is horribly boring.

I haven't specifically done any farming to level my Chocobo at all and he is about 35% of the way to Rank 10 from 9. I've just made sure to always use my Chocobo whenever I'm doing ANYTHING in the open world, such as Beastmen Quests, Treasure Maps, etc.Well at mob level 45-47 (Amalj'aa) you get 215 per kill, so thats ~7 (Over due to partial experience not awared) for 1500, so you can break the 5 minute mark but after about an hour of 7 a time at 3mins or under you will have 30000 choco xp gained...So I am sure you sanity will start to teeter the same way it does with atma farming.
Sure it's a lot of XP, but I don't think it needs nerfing.
I'm just glad they're finally allowing us to respec - Still regretting that one Attack Skill on my Healer Choco XD
Sucks this is behind a ginormous pay wall. The only FC houses left on Excalibur are FIFTY EIGHT MILLION GIL.
