Player VS Player content is something some but not all players want. This post will be giving a idea that fits PVP & PVE & even a variety of other players including gamblers.
Ul'dah is already filled full of extra rooms and areas that resemble a Coliseum and there's even a cutscene where you fight in one. I think it would be a good idea to implement a instance area where players can PVP each other by registering up to fight, and other players can actually spectate from the crowd by being in the outer area in the stands. Other players could interact with the fights by actually placing bets at a counter thus ridding Eorzea of gil, and also giving something very fun to do!
Personally I as a player love to test my limits, and the best way to do that is to fight another player. This Coliseum Content could very well act as FFXI's Ballista did.
currency could be used to buy perhaps items and gear that can "ONLY" be used while in coliseum,
example:
gear that receives stat bonus; adds
while in coliseum combat:
+STR DEX AGI MND INT PTY
+HP
+MP
+Attack
+DEF
+Resistance
etc.
