Why are new players punished for enjoying the story?

I finally reach the end of the campaign and have to miss out on all the boss fights and receive horrible threatening messages from my party members because I watched the cutscenes while they rushed through the dungeon.

I know I'm not the only person who has invested a ridiculous amount of time and money in this game to be forced to choose between playing it or watching the cutscenes.

It felt so broken. I kept having messages pop up saying "boss gate is now closed", to then return to a chat full of angry messages and a second later another cutscene of the boss having been defeated.

I didn't even allow myself time to read the dialogue properly, even when I had the time at the end I was too upset to appreciate it.

Do any of you believe Square Enix can hope to find a fix for this so others who care about storyline don't have to go through this upsetting experience as well?

Possible Solution: Give the option to not skip cutscenes in the duty finder, with a bonus reward to encourage more players to use it.
The party finder is not a solution. Quests direct you to the duty finder so that should take priority. Most people don't even know about the party finder until after the issue has arisen.

I never played the first version of this game but I watched every second of the storyline on YouTube, read all of the backstory online and had such excitement to finally see the conclusion.
Am I completely wrong is thinking I was supposed to watch through the cutscenes and enjoy the story?

I now feel as though if I dedicate any more of my time to the game the same thing will happen when more story is released.

Here's an eight month old post with over 400 replies of people having the same problem as I, and it still has not been resolved.
All I can do is encourage any of you who have not yet completed the storyline to not do so until this problem is fixed. Please spread the word.
It's very upsetting to have the storyline ruined for you.

people rush through the dungeons cause they probably got it on the Daily Roulette and just want the Myth/Sold and want to get it done fast so they can move on to the next Roulette, I myself watched all cut scenes in my room (Inn) by clicking on the Book on the Table, any cut scene you have ever had even if you skipped it can be re-watched there with full dialog, I know its not the solution you want but at least it gives you a way to watch the cut scenes at your own leisure.

Death threats? pretty rare, I'd say.

People moving deeper into the dungeon whether you want to keep up or not? pretty common these days.

Those who want to watch cutscenes are usually not considering the party's being forced to sit in one place for 15+ minutes.

The logical end to repeating that idle state hundreds of times is simple: why wait for the person, when we can do the next step in the dungeon without them.

And the next step. And the next step. Ultimately resulting in a 4 player party being done with 3, or 8 done by 7 people.

TL; DR : if you want to have a party where there is no cutscene skipping, PF has a nice option to accommodate your wishes.

Uh, I can answer that one for you. I'm new and very respectful player (32 year old) and it annoys me when I have people sitting there for a minute while 4 of us are ready to go. It's called being considerate and realizing you are playing with others who may not care about watching it or already have, multiple times over. To me I think it's appropriate to watch it on your own time, not at the expense of someone else. It may seem small to you, but watch that same cut scene 5 times, then put yourself in someone else's shoes who've done the same thing.

Exactly! You need to realize you're playing with others... Death threats, really? Come on man. You really cannot argue the point at all that your time is more important than anyone else's. Just skip them and watch me later, promise the game is still the same.

If you get a death threat, use the Report feature. A GM will be glad to escort them off of their account.

I have no qualms with the players who skip the cutscenes, I don't expect them to wait around when they've seen it already. I would do exactly the same thing as them in their position. Of course I don't approve of them sending me death threats though. I am merely upset with the design and I believe there must be a fix otherwise this will happen to people for as long as the game is running. There isn't even a point to there being a storyline if a solution hasn't been found. :/ Reporting them will solve nothing and is absolutely pointless.

Watching it in the inn completely takes the story out of context. The main problem is that I had NO IDEA that watching the cutscenes, which were put there for me to watch, would force me to have the game ruined for me. So telling me that I should have been more considerate is like telling someone they shouldn't have tripped while walking.
