    Ask Questions for Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XIV! (Item Desynthesis)

    Hey everyone!

    We're pleased to announce the next Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XIV focusing on the many exciting updates coming with Patch 2.3! This next Live Letter will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 4:00 a.m. (PST) / 11:00 (GMT)!


    In this thread we'd like you to specifically pose questions regarding the upcoming addition of Item Desynthesis. In addition to collecting your questions in real-time via Twitter, we will also use this thread to gather your questions ahead of time and answer them during the event.

    When submitting your question, we ask that you follow these steps:

    I'm really pleased that this system is being implemented!

    Will it be similar to XI, with a shard being consumed to turn weapons and armour into a base material, or will there be a super-fun mini-game to desynth each item?

    FFXIV player since 1.0 alpha, and still pretty terrible at this game. Thank the Twelve it's not actually hard like FFXI.

    Will any piece of gear, including dungeon drops and GC items, be desynthesisable, or will there just be specific items selected from a Desynthesis section in the crafting log?

    Will there be only a single possible result from a given desynthesis, or will there be a random factor as to what items, or quantity of items, are received from a set list?

    Will crafting statistics affect desynthesis and will there be desynthesis abilities, or will it be more similar to melding in that respect?

    How does desynthesis differ from materia convert, and how will you balance whether a player chooses to convert or desynthesise based on time spent soulbinding.

    Will desynth have a specific set of factors/conditions governing which items we're able to break down, such as <crafted gear only> or <unbound items only>, or <green items only>, similar to how only specific pieces of gear can be turned in for Expert Delivery at the GCs?
