Song Lyrics in FFXIV: Compilation, Discussion, and Interpretation

I tried working on the Floor 4 track for a bit (I'll try the F1-3 next). Here's what I got out of it before I decided to wait for the official lyrics (lol) for comparison. Between the all our versions, I imagine we can get somewhere. (For what it's worth, I'm pretty confident that it is hum-sing.)

I'm a little iffy on the boom/doom lines in the last verse, but it's the best I've got so far. As for what the chorus actually is I'm having a lot of trouble with. It's clearly "X THE METAL!" and then a crowd yelling a response that I can't make out for the life of me.

For the X, my guesses were

For the first chorus, my ears are stumped for now, but I'll keep trying. The second time the chorus comes around, it's the same thing every time. I thought maybe it was "LET IT OUT," but maybe the echo is just playing ticks on me and they're just screaming MET-AL, lol. The first time, however, there's two slightly different lines that alternate A A A B A B A A... Might have to wait for the official releases of the three new songs to be sure.

I looked a bit earlier in the thread and noticed people were talking about the Dragonsong lyrics. Has anyone considered the startling resemblance to the end of 2.x?

"Land" and "heavens" could refer to Raubahn's rise from obscurity and the Sultana's royal divinity. She nearly sacrificed her throne, pleading to her dearest friends (kin) to aid in Ul'dah's transition, and was "assassinated" by treachery before she could see it through, scattering her words to the wind. Her throne empty, her reign incomplete, Raubahn's loss of his dearest companion and the pain of his missing arm... All for Teledji's greed, his desire for "empty bliss".

Admittedly her survival makes the poignancy of this interpretation rather insipid, but thinking about it before I found that out made me shed tears I only shed for beauty. I hadn't felt Nanamo's loss until after seeing the lyrics.

Unbrace could also be Embrace - I can hear that somewhat.

The last one sounds like 'Behold' or 'Before', both of which could make sense as the last one said. 'Behold' would be my most likely guess.

Of course, once you get a word or two in your head, all you can hear is that word being said. Similar to how if you read a suggested wording, you can see why they would suggest it even if it's wrong.

Tell me about it, I heard the last one as refold the metal, at first, and then after playing around with it a bit, I clearly hear the sounds _ee_oll_ or _ee_ull_ with anything in the underscores being possible, and one time my brain heard me-boll or meatboll (yeah, like warped meatball, or maybe like meatbowl) and now my brain won't let go of it, lol. Refold, We pull, we boil... I like behold, and I think it makes the most sense, but I don't hear it as clearly, especially on the first pass of the chorus.

Likewise for the crowd-shout. I've heard a dozen things, but now my brain is stuck on burn gobbie doom / turn gobbie doom for the first chorus.

My ears are just seeing shapes in the clouds at this point.

I'm gonna try the other song and come back to this one later, lol.

My thoughts exactly on those parts. Heck, for the longest time (and even now, sometimes), I didn't hear "metal" during the chorus, but "lever". Which is either wrong, or Longhaft has become an object of worship amongst the Goblins. A frightening throught to be sure, haha! But yeah, I'm 90% sure that the words go "Wake, Create, Uphold, Control, Embrace, ???, Restore, Behold." That third to last I've heard everything from "Erase" "Efface" "Deraise" and "Reraise". A part of me really wants it to be "Praise" or something to that effect, but I don't think it is.

The shouts, I've heard "Gobbie home now!" and "Alexander!" more than anything, but those are guesses. But I'll give this song a break, too. Perhaps some time off will clear our heads of whatever is in them right now.

I was looking at the different comments about the song and combined what I heard with their reference, hopefully it helps. The over all tone of the song sounds really violent and sinister so a version that's more violent coherently seemed more fitting to the illuminati purpose behind raising Alexander and some of the feelings behind each line
