    @SilentGrind : yes, it is why I put percentage at the end.

    @prophecy4seen: unless it is a typo, you also loose some potency due to clipping Demo (even with a 2.3 s GCD) something like 20%. For auto attack, maybe you are not facing your target all the time while moving (I don't know what it is this L3 button)?

    Akirakogami: you are right. To convince yourself, you can test on a dummy and look especially for Boot as it is easy to know if you are in the right position. For big ennemies, you may want to look at the mechanics of position and hitbox - and train to get rid of your movement habit. I had also the same problem as you since I played white mage first and white mage don't care a shit about where they are facing. I used to go straight to the position I wanted and then turn. Doing this, you will loose auto-attacks. So always face your target. Maybe there are better ways (for you), but what I am doing is to strife (don't know if it is the correct english word but I mean using side movements) and use the mouse to face the target; you will normally describe a circle (well a part of it instead of a straight line). There is some room to face a target, it is also a cone of 45 deg as for the positions.

    yeah, i know as a pc user you guys can actually side step, so you move from back to flank without looking away from the boss... but as far as i know, people on controller analogs cant do this.. without diamond targetting. but putting that on kind of traps you if your slow at switching it of for the mechanics.
    I play on a pad as well on PC. if you go into your controller settings for camera type you have legacy (which i use and presume you use). If you switch to Standard, it will be like the side stepping you mention. However i simply couldnt get used to this at all :/ However if you can it ensures you never miss a AA at least :P

    Ok I think the OP is fine, not perfect but fine now. Can anyone read it and tell me if something's wrong, miss something, there are typos or whatever. Thanks.

    Another tip for Leviathan: Shoulder Tackle will override the boat tipping mechanic if you time it properly. This can save you if you're mispositioned and should fall off the boat, or allow you to position to an add/Spume that is still alive. For example, during the Spumes phase, if Leviathan uses Body Slam and there are still Spumes alive opposite of where Leviathan is slamming, you can Shoulder Tackle into the Spume as the boat begins to tip and ignore the movement aspect of the mechanic, leaving you on the Spume while the rest of your party is on the other side of the boat.

    For those using Legacy Camera and Keyboard/Mouse:

    Re-bind your A/D keys (or whatever keys you use to move Left/Right) to Strafe Left and Strafe Right instead of Move Left and Move Right.

    This makes your character face forwards while moving left and right, and you'll lose fewer auto-attacks this way.

    As a career Playstation player (I have the PC version but I don't like using it), I'd be extremely interested to learn about what not using "Diamond target" does to your DPS.

    I consistently top DPS in my static of similarly geared DRG, SMN, BRD, but I change from flank to rear almost every attack. If what people are saying is true, should I be out-pacing them by even more if I use the diamond target?

    Its probably worth getting good at turning it on and off if I get even 10% more dps out of it. Titan X with that on sounds like an interesting challenge with that on, though - lol!

    The only thing I can think of is to constantly spam your next attack so that auto-face target turns on as soon and as often as possible, but auto face doesn't work until the ability is actually activated.

    Basically every 6 cycles - you gain one BS/True whilst you lose the buffs for 2xDK,2xTwin,2xCoeurl attacks and 2-4 auto attacks. You lose more damage than you gain from BS/True. This is for fights you can get your perfect rotation, any fights where you might use ToD or have any slight downtime you are losing even more buffed attacks.

    Rear: Any attack done while in the "empty" area of the target marker.
    Flank: Any area to the sides on the Solid area of the target marker.

    The bonus is awarded at the start of the attack, not at the end. As soon as you click your attack on rear you can begin moving to the flank for the next strike or vise versa. You should always strafe your target and keep it in front of you at all times. You do NOT have to be directly behind the target to receive the rear bonus any more then you have to be directly to the side of the target to receive the flank bonus. The picture below is about how much I move positions while on target to get the Rear/flank.

    "So the entire rotation is
    DK -> Twin -> Demo -> Boot -> True -> Snap -> DK ->"

    By using Bootshine as your 2nd opo stance move you're not actually applying Dragon Kick until the 3rd form rotation. It only applies its debuff when used in Coeurl form (so you ccan't open with it). Also while Dragon Kick has the same potency as Bootshine when used from the flank, it's not always ideal to open with it - especially is you Shoulder Tackle right into the back of something. Much easier to just use Bootshine first which is 150 potency from any direction. So it would be better to go:

    Bootshine -> True* -> Demo -> DK -> Twin -> Snap -> Boot -> True -> Snap etc

    *While you won't be getting Twin Snakes buff right away here you're using all the rear moves first which makes movement / auto attacks less stressful. If there's a DPS loss from not using Twin in your first form rotation (I haven't done the math) it's surely negligible.

    Hey guys, I'm a fresh 50. I've been working on my Relic quest so far. At this point I'm up to Titan HM, but don't quite meet the gear requirement yet. So far I'm kind of feeling like a chicken with it's head cut off. There's all these explosions, adds, and other things going on in these fights and I'm struggling to keep Grease Lightning III up at all times. Is it simply a matter of getting used to being all over the place all the time?

    But damn, Ifrit HM was extremely entertaining. One big firework show for 10 minutes.

    EDIT: Just saw that post showing the blank and solid space showing the rear and flank. Very helpful, thank you. Also, is there any way to know what kind of DPS I'm pulling on PS4?
