Devs, please fix Macro wait time!

The current macro system rounds to the nearest second, why? Make it so that if my GCD for an ability is 2.41 seconds, the macro will recognize that and perform it under that time parameter. Better yet, allow me to make the command line: /wait <GCD> "Ability Name" so I don't have to change it every time my skill speed fluctuates. I really see no reason why wait time is rounded to the nearest second which causes DPS losses over time. Seems like sloppy programming and I would like to see this addressed.

Or you could suck it up and use your abilities manually instead of being lazy with Macro usage. Macros were never meant to do your combos, they were meant for telling the party what you're doing. Like tanks can use Provoke on one line and then tell the party on the next.

Back during some of the early betas, the /wait command could take decimal points in order to match the cooldowns, but that made them too effective. SE changed that to add some extra time on macros in order to prevent them from being the most efficient way to do combos. The devs want manual control of each individual action to be the most efficient and effective way to play, with macros available for simpler things where you don't care about maximizing your effectiveness. If macros were the most efficient, then they would become nearly mandatory for difficult content and the devs don't want people required to play on auto-pilot.

Relative to this then, why is using hardware macros not a bannable offence? Various products from a range of manufacturers allow you to script to one or more decimal places. If players with these products are able to script to that level of accuracy, then surely everyone should be allowed to?

(Note, I'm not debating the merits of macro'ing here. Just pointing out that it is possible, and that people do bypass Square's intentionally crippled system.)

That is using a third party program which is indeed a ban-able offense. This applies to all mouse software as well iirc. Anything that creates an "auto-pilot" not supplied directly from SE is considered a third party.

Relative to the post, it all comes down to server load as well as those, they would need to script in additional processes to differentiate between the decimal places which also increases the server load when used. For each macro the system has to reload your character so to speak. The same thing is true about moving. Several patches ago they changed the reload time for characters from 1 second to .5 seconds with the premise of reducing the lag of characters but at the cost of a higher server load, which thankfully hasn't caused many problems.

i would be happy if they allowed overlapping wait timers.
