Atma Colours

Is anyone else bothered by the colours of the atma? I am a little OCD and this bugs me a LOT. There are 4 colours but rather than divide the 12 atmas 3-3-3-3, they are 4-4-2-2. And the colours used have nothing to do with the elemental alignments. As per the Zodiac

Fire = Aries (Ram), Leo (Lion), Sagittarius (Centaur/Archer)
Earth = Virgo (Maiden), Taurus (Bull), Capricorn (Mer-Goat)
Water = Pisces (Fish), Cancer (Crab), Scorpio (Scorpion)
Air = Libra (Scales), Gemini (Twins), Aquarius (Water-bearer)

So none of the fire signs are red, only the Bull is yellow for earth, only the Fish is blue for water and none of the air signs are green for wind. And neither are the colours representitive of the location the atma is found or even associated with being N/S/E/W etc. I just don’t get it

I tried to make sense of it after reading your post...

There is twelve star signs, so I naturally started comparing them to the Twelve. Depending on how well you know the traits of each god and each star sign and what traits you emphasize when drawing up your comparisons, you might or might not end up with the list below.

When you compare that list to elements associated with the Twelve and the colors of Atma related to the signs, you'll notice that blue atma are ice and water gods, green is wind, red for fire and lightning and yellow for earth. Note that neither ice nor lightning appear in the elements of the star signs, so if one were to list the Twelve with the elements of the star signs only there would be some condensing to be done...and hey, while this list is a little shaky and purely speculative, it does at least give some kind of an explanation :P

You are not alone! I wanted them to be colored for their element as well. When that didn't work, I wanted them to be colored for the region they were found in. Well that didn't work either. If there is some rhyme or reason behind why certain stones are certain colors, it's lost on me, and I want to know why!

As a colourblind person, I only see three colours. It looks okay to me. This is the solution to your problems OP. Simply get defective eyes.

I'm with Rogue on this one. It's been bugging me too.

I would also be very wary of drawing connections between the Twelve and the Zodiac, because in Hydaelyn, the Zodiac are of Othardian legend, where as the Twelve are of Eorzean legend. I would also be more concerned about possible associations with...
