Chiming in with frequent crashes and chronic lag as well. Dungeon dropped 3 dps players consecutively. Each said they were lagging, and then 2 minutes later they d/c'd. This happened in similar fashion three times in a row which cannot be coincidental.
P.S. This is not my main...
Seems this might fall under the same catagory as this post: (mine is n umber 39)

I too have the same problem with random crashing all of a sudden and its never even remotely been a problem before.
Ok, so this issue has been happening to some extent since launch. It has only been since patch 2.2-2.3+ that it has become noticeably worse. To the point where it started as a minor annoyance, to now, severely hindering my gameplay experience (crashes every 30-60min). I almost expect when I teleport that there is a high likelihood that my client will crash. I am not exaggerating.
Replication:
Teleport to many different zones. Visiting higher population areas/zones will cause the crashes to occur sooner/faster.
It seems to be linked with memory usage. At approximately 1.4-1.45GB of RAM used by the ffxiv.exe the game will start freezing/locking up and eventually crashes.
Setup:CPU: Intel i7-4770K @ 3.5GHzTests:
Video Card: Sapphire R9 290
RAM: Gskill 16GB DDR3
- Reinstalled FFXIV client from scratch - Same issueSpeculation:
- Updated AMD graphics drivers from 13.9 to 14.4 - Same issue
- Tested second spare R9 290 card - Same issue
The reason that I believe it is memory leak as others have discussed, is that as you teleport from zone to zone, the memory slowly increases until eventually it hits the 1.45GB mark and the game crashes.
I have friends running NVIDIA graphics cards and do not appear to have this issue. It might be limited to AMD graphics cards.
This evening, doing 9 treasure maps and 20 hunting log entries worth of teleporting caused 8 crashes. If I visited either Revenant's Toll or Limsa Lominsa during one of the sessions, the client would crash after visiting 3 zones.
I've been having this problem alot lately. Seems everytime I change zones I crash, or even when I'm riding a chocobo of finishing a FATE I will get a random crash. It seems to happen also when I click out of the windowed screen to another program, which I've never had a problem with until now.
My Setup
CPU: AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core 3.70 GHz
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon 7970 HD with drivers fully updated.
Ram: 8GB DDR 3
I've also suddenyl been experiencing similar issues in the last few weeks. I can log onto the game, do character creation/watch cinematics fine but the moment I actually log a character in I get anything from a few seconds to fifteen minutes of gameplay then the application just locks up - first the graphics go (starts stuttering then just stops) then the sound starts going and finally it just sits there. Can't ctrl+alt+del out of it - luckily dual monitor setup so can open task manager and end unresponsive task.
I've already run memtests (all fine), tried different graphics drivers (all from Nvidia), reinstalled the game (on two separate hard drives), reinstalled windows. This only happens with FFXIV, nothing else. Two weeks ago it was fine - no issues at all but suddenly it's gone to pot and become unplayable.
System details from the FFXIV Profiler if it helps:

Hope something gets done about this soon - don't like paying for a game I can't play.

I have the same problem and disabling crossfire fixed it, but playing at 7680x1440 i really need my crossfire back.
crashing a lot as well on Ragnarok
Larek Darkholme @ Ragnarok
Also experiencing the same issue on Sargatanas. Constant lag and lost connection.
Everything will be fine for me... and then sometimes during the day everything will start lagging and then I will be disconnected with a basic disconnection message. My home phone (which is internet based) and general web browsing keep running without any issue on my end. I've run nonstop pings during these issues and again no break on my end.
Seems like something ill is occurring on the server end.
I seem to be encountering the problem once a day and then it passes.
