About silver soverign, seems like the limit to hq is very close to or exactly 170ilms, at 310 gathering i got 1 hq weighing 170.x, after boosting it to 319 i got hq up to 173, migh be abe to catch bigger but its a start, I though maybe we can figure out what gathering is needed to catch x ilms

I can confirm the Rivet Oyster can be caught in the rain and at night. Only one miss and a total of 17 casts and caught the little big guy.

I think that the gathering level required for catching a certain fish is correlated with its item level. And assuming that Silver Sovereign needs 301+ gathering and Rivet Oyster was caught with 356+ gathering I think we can make a hypothesis that:
ilvl70 - minimum gathering / perception - 251+:
Beguiler Chub
Bloody Brewer
Carp Diem
Caterwauler
Chirurgeon
Dream Goby
Gigantshark
Glimmerscale
Goldenfin
Great Gudgeon
High Perch
Matron Carp
Navigator's Brand
Octomammoth
Oschon's Printa
Stormdancer
Zalera
ilvl75 - minimum gathering / perception - 301+:
Armorer
Jacques The Snipper
Mud Golem
Old Softie
Sabertooth Cod
Silver Sovereign
Slime King
Syldra
ilvl80 - minimum gathering / perception - 351+:
Blue Widow
Crystal Perch
Dark Ambusher
Dark Knight
Faerie Queen
Ghost Carp
Judgeray
Junkmonger
Marrow Sucker
Moldva
Mud Pilgrim
Rivet Oyster
Maybe the spread (250/300/350) is not that wide (eg 290/300/310) - but I think the mechnics behind it works like that. (when you compare fishing to crafting for example)

Interesting idea, and arguably easy(ish) to test. Could just fish at the absolute limit of a theorized gathering stat with given baits/lures and see what happens. Only takes one catch below a threshold to falsify, right?I think that the gathering level required for catching a certain fish is correlated with its item level.
