Epic is always based on perspective, but I think framing, circumstance and timing are 'epic'.

Maybe catching your character just as those god-rays hit the roofs of Ul'dah, or in the middle of the desert.




Or stumbling across Bahamut's head



Or standing AFK in Gridania and coming back to 50 other Monks joining in with you.



Or sharing an eye for an eye with Behemoth



Even from a smaller perspective the world is epic



Or perhaps perfectly timed coincidences.
(Happened to be wearing something similar to the GM as I got pulled in for other reasons just a few minutes after putting it on. I couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried)
