    They are planning on implementing combos that you can do by yourself. (kinda vague)

    Anyone not really jazzed about how jobs are just sort of "Modes" So they are sticking with the "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!" Route but just allow you to be specialized when you want to be.

     戦闘周りのアップデート予定をお話しいただきましたが,そういった改修によって,そもそも戦闘はどう変わっていくのですか? かなり大規模なことをやっている,というのは分かるのですが,何を目指しているのかお聞きしたいです。

     個人的に,いま自分達が直してる部分というのは,スタンダードなMMOのルールを作り直しているのだと思っています。FFXIVの場合,最初に道を間違えたというか……
    Gondai: Personally, what we are fixing now are bringing the rules of a standard MMO. In FFXIV… we took the wrong direction at start…


    吉田氏:
     ちょっと気負いすぎたところがあるのかなと。

    松井氏:
     いろんなことを想定しすぎてるんですよ。すごくたくさんの人でデータを作って,たくさんの要素がこれから追加されるってことを考えすぎた結果,ひとつひとつの要素をケアしきれていないんです。
     ですので,どのようなバトルになるんですかって言われたら,最初なのでまずはシンプルで分かりやすいバトルになるのではないでしょうか。
    Matsui: Too many things were planned at once, many people made data’s and thinking too much about things going to be implemented in future, which resulted in each specific contents not being cared enough. So when asked what kind of battle will it be? We have to say that the battle going to be simple and easy to understand.

     オートアタックが入るということで,FFXIのような戦闘になるのではないかと思っている人もいるようですが,FFXIとはまた違うんですか?
    4Gamer: We understand there will be AutoAttack and people think it’s going to be similar to FFXI, will it be different?

     僕と権代の名前が出ていれば,そういう懸念もあるだろうとは思いますが,FFXIにしたいわけではないです。僕がそういうゲームが好きだという点 で,FFXIと共通性が出てくる部分はあるかもしれないですけど,FFXIとは関係なく,まずは「これが普通でしょ」というところを目指していますね。
    Matsui: With Gondai and my name being up people may think that, but we don’t want to make it into FFXI. For me liking a game like it may have similarities to XI but aiming something “This is standard”

    権代氏:
     オートアタックって,ほかのMMORPGを見ていただければ分かりますけど,あって当たり前ですよね。そういう部分はよくも悪くもスタンダードだと思っているので,まずそこに近付けて,その上にさらにFFXIVらしさを乗せてくつもりなんです。
     例えば,WoWにしても,まずベースがあったうえでWoWらしいスキルツリーのシステムがありますし,新しく「Rift」が出てきたら,そこにRiftらしさが上乗せされていますよね。
    Gondai: Looking at other MMORPG having Auto Attack is normal, good or bad, it’s a standard. So it’s going to have that and on top of that adding more to make it more FFXIV. Like for WoW it first has the base and added skill tree system to make it more WoW style. When Rift comes out, Rift will also have a style for Rift.

     そうです。僕はMMORPGというのは結局,基本的には2派のスタンダードなタイプしか残っていないと思うんですよ。ひとつはいわゆるハック&スラッ シュに近いクリックゲー。Shift押しながらクリック,足を止めてクリック,敵をずっとクリックして,手先のアクションに寄っているタイプ。わかりやす く,連続した爽快感を得やすい。
     もうひとつは,いわゆる第一世代,EQで発明された,ヘイトコントロールされたモンスターを,クラウドでさらにコントロールして,各個撃破していくタイプ。
    YoshiP: yes, In a MMORPG I believe there are basically 2 standard styles. One being a hack and slash style clicking game. Holding the shift key and click, stop and click, keep on clicking the mob. Another style is what the first EQ had with monsters with hate control, and defeating individually.

     ああ,たしかにMMORPGの根幹設計としては,その2タイプがスタンダードになっていますね。最近はアクションRPGっぽさを取り入れた結果,ちょっと例外っぽいタイトルもちらほら出てきましたけど。

     FFXIVの場合,そのどちらのタイプかを考えたら,ハック&スラッシュは合わないよなあ,と。FFXIVのグラフィックス水準とモーションフレーム, そしてあの等身で,人間らしくない動きをするFFはちょっと想像がつかない。そう考えると,後者のタイプのスタンダードをまずしっかり作ったうえ で,FFXIVらしさを乗せていこうかと思っています。
     FFXIでもなく,旧FFXIVでもなく,WoWでもなく,EQでもない。何もかもが斬新なバトルって,言葉では響きがいいかもしれませんが,誰にも理 解できない難解なものになって,パーティプレイもおぼつかないものになっちゃうだろうな,と。僕はコツコツタイプのゲームデザイナーであって,天才ではな いので無理ですね。
    YoshiP: When thinking FFXIV it doesn’t seem like hack and slash type won’t do, and with FFXIV graphics and motion frame it doesn’t look right to have moves that doesn’t look realistic. First making the standard type and adding a FFXIV style on top of it. Making something original, not FFXI or First FFXIV, not WoW, not EQ. may sound nice but would probably become something too complicated for anyone to understand, and hard for party plays. I am not a genius so it’s not possible for me, I am game designer.

    松井氏:
     ○○ではないもの,という発想でものは作れないんですよね。
    Matsui: something that’s not XX – it’s not possible to make something just thinking like this.

    吉田氏:
     じゃあ“FFXIVらしさってなんだと言われたら,ソロでも,ライトパーティでも,フルパーティでも,クラスでも,平日や週末の違い,コミュニティサ イズ,その日のパーティ状況でいろいろコンテンツを選んで遊んでください。ジョブシステムも入れるので,腕の良い仲間と一緒に,ジョブもお楽しみに。とい うところになるんじゃないでしょうか。
    YoshiP: So what is FFXIV style? I would have to say, its something you can enjoy with solo, light party, full party, class, different player style (weekday, weekend players), different communit sizes, Being able to enjoy with that days party situation. We’re also adding job system so please play with close friends. Something like that.

    権代氏:
     今は詳しいことは言えませんが,ウェポンスキルも位置取りを考えて1人で繋げていく,コンボのようなものを準備しています。こういった,いくつかのものが組み合わさることで,FFXIVらしいバトルを作りあげていこうと考えています。
    Gondai: We can’t give the details but for we are looking at weapons skills where you can make combos by yourself (one person) Adding stuff like this to make it more FFXIV style battle.

    The only thing im not really happy about is how there is only currently 1 class per job.. or 1 job per class... whatever they are calling it. It is something that can easily be improved on in the future.

    I think making it a 'mode' is a little wonky but it probably does its job. Eventually most people probably wont switch out of their 'mode' because they dont have a reason to, thus it becomes your new class. Still too little information to do anything but assume so I wont say much on it.

    Finally, I think what they mean is that you'll probably have some spells improved and then some won't be able to be used. Ie: no archer skills with whm but you get +10% healing to Whm skills. Something like that.
