    Epic Healer Stories

Post your epic healer stories here!

    Garuda EX:
Me and my guildmates were in the process of learning the new Garuda EX fight when it came out. Typical story, we'd see something new and wipe to it then get a bit further next time. We finally were able to consistantly get her down to ~10% before someone did something stupid... like blow the plume early because they bane'd Garuda. After a couple of attempts, we decided to try once more before we head off for the night

The problem is, no one was watching the dungeon timer.

The last run goes like clockwork, everyone doing their job and it's all going perfectly. Then we hear it. In mumble a friend says, "Uh, guys - 30 seconds left."

She's dropping fast, but not fast enough. The channel is full of guys and girls going, "come on... come on... we're not going to make it..."

At 15 seconds me and the white mage were strangely in sync say, "f__k it." and both go cleric stance and start doing pure dps.

and at 2 seconds left we downed her.

Post battle damage parsing says we reduced the time it took to down her by ~3 seconds.

Nothing has ever come so close as that.

    It was truly epic.

My best story in terms of not much time left, was @ Titan HM via Duty finder.

Had some 0-1% wipes and on the last try we finally made it with 1sec(!) remaining!

It was kinda bugged though, people couldnt release from their corpses. But, well it counted! :P

The other day I was doing Ifrit HM as a summoner to get my next relic (bear with me here, I'm a WHM main)...

20% health left and this entire DF group wipes to plumes and eruptions, with just myself and the paladin MT surviving. I swiftcast rez the healer, who promptly manages to get hit by the next aoe and die before she does anything. 60 seconds of eruption dodging later I try to swiftcast the other healer, who proceeds to do the exact same thing. So I just say f@&^ it let's have some fun.

The paladin and myself proceed to duo down Ifrit from 20% by spamming ghetto cures and physicks on him while dodging every eruption, plume, and charge. I toss in a few dots and a couple LB1's when I can, keep sustain running to help my pet live through everything that isn't being stunned now, and we eventually down him. Our group was calling wipe as soon as they all died and couldn't believe the two of us finished it alone.

I have never pulled off a healer LB3 before. I was helping my fc with a chimera run a little while after I had started my hydra part of the relic quest. The group was just having an off time from carrying a few peeps and bad luck/ lag. So, I see we're gonna wipe and hear the call for the healer lb. Our other healer was down. I have this shit eating grin as I fire it off... and because we were doing the hill method, it hits no one. Not epic, just epic fail.

You're not the only healer who has epicly failed to use LB3 correctly. Out of all 3 roles, healers have the least priority IMO for LB3 usage since 1) people should not be dying in the first place 2) even if people die we should be ressing them normally and 3) if that many people are dying within a short period of time, it's almost always better to just wipe and restart anyway. So whenever the party starts calling for LB3 from me, I get flustered and don't think about where I'm standing when I hit it or I hit it at the wrong time and ress people onto bad stuff (no ress immunity prior to 2.1). *fail healer* XD

Not really a time limit thing, but I did save the raid once.

Turn 4, first group. It was double Scholar and the second Scholar somehow kept dying on every P6 drop. The group eventually disbanded, as the tank would also lose aggro at the same time.
Second group was much better, but White Mage had a habit of dropping dead as well on P6 drop. I can only assume they forgot to stop healing during drops. (My strategy is to E4E OT, and Supervirus MTs dread.) Group is about to disband. "last run guys" We reach P5, positioning goes perfect, P6 drops, and White Mage dies almost immediately. Instantly think "Well the wipe is coming now" but I decide to try keeping everyone alive anyway. I suddenly realize that both tanks are topped off with Galvanize up. I had been solo-healing for about 30 seconds, and managed to keep both tanks up in the hardest phase. Swifcast comes off cooldown at this point, so I pop it and res the WHM. We end up beating the turn before Enraged timer.

Main healing Toto-Rak... as SMN. Granted I did that as premade pt with FC friends but you get the idea. It was pretty challenging I can tell you just using Physick. But it was doable and somehow we managed to get by with zero deaths.

More epic was a Brayflox run I did again as SMN through DF with a friend (who was PLD) - we had a WHM but she was a new one and was still learning, meaning she didn't understand MP conservation and was spamming Cure II when a Cure would have been sufficient. And on Altair, she kept running out of MP and dying, so I found myself having to take over as healer in that fight, even using Swiftcast-Resurrect frequently to raise her and the rest of the pt when necessary (if I hadn't and had just stuck to my role we would have wiped faster and never beaten the boss). After three wipes we finally managed to beat the boss, and I got a commendation for my effort. So it all worked out in the end.
