    Lag Spikes since 14/01/14

    Hi i know there has been lots of posts on the forums about this issue but it seems SE are still not responding to anyone or even acknowledge that there is a problem. Like most im with sky broadband, and looking at posts we have already identified that there is nothing wrong with sky, its something wrong with SE servers or isp.
    I think SE need to take this issue a lot more seriously and at least put some sort news or forum post stating that they are aware of this problem as from what i can see this is affecting a huge player base of ff14. If SE fail to fix this problem or not even communicate with us about it they are going to lose a huge portion of their player base as already people are cancelling subscriptions and quitting the game.
    So SE please post some sort of reply in this thread or at least tell us what is going on and how long it will take to fix.

    I agree with you.
    I'm from Italy by the way, MC-Link is my ISP (nothing to do with Sky) and since 14 january I have exactly same issue.

    If they don't aknowledge the problem and fix it by the end of the month I just won't resubscribe, considering I'm paying for a game I can't play (I couldn't play for the entire week due to lag), fixing this is something really important for me.

    Same here, am I Sky Broadband and it's impossible to do anything that requires moving so I can't do any Garuda, Titan or Ifrit groups.

    Something needs to do done by SE since it only started since that maint so they must of changed something or the Data-center must have

    Yea same here live in uk cant do anything that involes dodging, lucky I got coil done b4 it started, ima be pissed if I miss out on coil next week

    Same thing has been happening for me, im from the UK using Sky Broadband and im getting crazy lag spikes in and out of duty. Its making things nigh on impossible to do.
    Im hoping it gets sorted out soon, i cant afford to let down my raid group again.

    Sky customer, posting in all threads related to this, have had the same issue since 14th.

    Playing the waiting game to find out what's happening. Never had an issue before but now raiding, primals and the like are unplayable.

    You sure there is nothing wrong with sky? cause from what I'm see is that sky is the only UK isp to have this problem. already 6/7 ppl posted here are from UK are with sky.

    The problem seems to be with one of the servers that your data travels through between your ISP and SE's servers. Seeing as 'VPN' solutions such as Pingzapper and WTFast fix the problem, there must not be an issue with the SE servers (the problems would still exist even when using these tools).

    Also seeing as it's just the FF14 connection that is affected (and not anything else internet related) there isn't an issue with the ISPs connections (such as Sky and any others reported).

    So while neither SE or Sky/other ISPs are solely to blame, they do need to provide a solution as the route they have set up for their data to travel between each other is faulty. This also explains why not all ISPs are being affected, as different ISPs would have their data travel via different routes.

    (This is my current understanding of it, at least.)

    hmmm, I'm having this problem too and my ISP is Sky broadband also... trouble is it's ONLY with this application, I've even had streaming Sky Sports 1 via a website on my other monitor whilst in Praetorum for daily stuff and the huge lagspikes were affecting me and the stream carried on right through. These are no small lagspikes either, we're talking up to 10 seconds of complete action stopping at times, theb rubberbanding and totally catching up at super fast forward speed in 2 seconds. I've had Sky check my line and it's fine and there's nothing they can do as it's only FFXIV and no other programme. I've a powerful PC that can handle all of what FFXIV can handle.

    I've tried data pings to the exact server in Montreal, Canada that Hyperion is based in and I'm regularly getting timeouts/packet loss on hops 12 to 15 which is when it hops from New York (stable, excellent) to Montreal (oh noes!).

    So PLEASE sort out the Montreal servers or use a different route to the server itself cos the Montreal based stuff is being rubbish. Wonder why it's only Sky though, seems weird.

    Its not just Sky, anything that is routing through ae-11-11.car2.Montreal2.Level3.net or ae-5-5.car1.Montreal2.Level3.net is dropping packets like they are hot. I have seen users from FIOS (my own ISP), TWC, AT&T, Sky plus a bunch of smaller ISPs that I can't recall the names of.

    The data center that Square is using is also shared by a bunch of other game companies and they too have threads just like this on their forums (See STO and MWO).

    What likely happened is that Sky's peering network who hands off to a partner peering network in the states or Canada changed their routes and you are getting routed via the poor Level3 nodes.

    Square need to call leve3.net and log a ticket. Square have been told but continue to stick their heads in the sand.

    Roll on Wildstar (Running out of texas data center atm).
