Please bring back the 99% NPC repair feature

I miss the old way of repairs where NPC repairs would only fix gear up to 99%. If you wanted something fixed up to 100% to resell you would need to find a player with the right crafting class. I mean, that was a major benefit for craft players to be useful. It also encouraged communication between players and FC/LS members. Putting your damaged gear up for repair in town was a great way for crafters to see who was requesting repairs and they could charge a fee to do so.

I think this is one reason why crafters aren't valued as much in-game and why the economy is kinda wonky.

This wouldn't help in anyway now. If your gear is less than 100%, that means you've used it, and thus can't sell it.

    99 % ................................. 100 % .................................

    Whats the difference ????

Oh, 1 % ..... An enemy could accidentally spunk on you and cause that 1 % drop ... who cares ??

Theres bigger fish to fry, this isn't the way to make crafters useful !

at 14-1 you could only resell gear which had 100% condition, if you have worn something and the condition wasnt 100% anymore you always needed a player, who repaired it cause the npc only did 99% -> you couldnt resell with 99%

so crafter were more important with their 100% repairs

It would be nice if there was a way to un-bind equipment.

Then again, I suppose the market would become even more overflooded with non-rare equipment and people would complain about that.

The market is already dead, letting us unbind won't make a difference in the economy since the gear usually sells for less in the marketboards than you get if you sell it to an NPC. Binding was very unwelcomed when we first came across it and it is currently just another way to waste inventory space. Not all of us convert old gear to materia, especially since materia isn't worth anything anymore.

Also, to the OP, the 100% was needed to be able to sell gear with your retainers, since they have binding now, it's pointless to have crafters be the only ones able to bring a gear up to 100%. Just a little bit of FFXIV trivia; the 99% was a change, originally the NPCs would bring your gear up to 75%, not 99%, that was modified midway through FFXIV's short lifespan.

Crafters and the market are dead not for these reasons, but due to the fact that SE never properly plans out their item implementing. Even in 11 they were notorious for releasing content that would squash old content and crash markets. It still happens now but in different ways. Currently its too easy to flood the server with Philo crafting items due to Treasure chests and MASS philo being farmed from CT and other events.

This idea that the OP posted mixed with a new say.... Sharpness buff? Or something of the sort similar to food taht gives the players gear a temporary buff from being repaired by a crafter?? Would make us useful and would give the repair feature a use.
