    SP Grind Camps

So after I'm done with leve-linkage I would like to have the option to make an SP PT and find a camp to get my grind on. But when I search for a guide most of the time it is outdated because of recent updates to the game. And come to think of it, everything pertaining to SP grind will probably have to be rewritten after 1.18 but until then maybe someone can help me out.

My THM is 41 and my CON is 33. Any suggestions for a SP PT camp? How many members would be ideal? What should be the range in Rank? What should we kill?

    Thanks in advance~

SP grinding isn't much of an option i'm afraid, raptors in a group are a decent low to mid 40s out at boulder downs but thats as much as i've found.

Efts can be good up to around 42 (not amazing SP but the ones at Treespeak can be good).

AT 33 i grind the effets(w/e you spell their name) in mistbeard cave for sp it was pretty good 400+ none surplus. They have a weird spawn chart tho, like 8 of them will re spawn quickly after every ph is killed then wont re spawn till like 1 min later.

These are all camp for 5+ people, SP caculations are with 8 people in my party.. Sp taken every 5mins for a period of 2hrs when I was clocking them.

These also assume a decent party... if you go with 5 mages or 5 glads the sp will not be as good.

Rank 18-25: Puks in Nanawa mines north of Aetherite on bridges (~21-25 k sp/hr depending on rank)
Rank 26-28: Ants in lower floor of copperbell (~18-22 k/sp)
Rank 28-35: Camp Nine Ives off efts and bird near the Circle camps (~24-27 k sp/hr)
Rank 35-42: Camp Treespeak Circle off Efts, lemurs, and Ix'tal (~23-26 k sp/hr)
    Rank 42-50: Baulder Downs Raptors (~25-30 k sp/hr)
Rank 45-50: Sorell Haven off efts, birds, and traps (~24-27 k sp/hr)
Rank 47-50: East of uldah off peiste, drakes, and eyes (drakes hit very hard though) (~18-22 k sp/hr)

Unless you are doing fail leves with lowman groups in the course of a 3 hr block most these camps will get you more sp then leves will.

Raptors are also an option for 45 to 50. <_<

Than its the SP/hour over SP/Mob. You can easy pull out 30k to 50k on Raptors with 3-4 People. If you got more, cool.. will be faster. Duo on 48 They give 380ish.

There are other Options than just Raptors btw. You can Grind on Sheeps, Antelopes, Stags, Peistes, Raptors, Toads, Formers, Crabs and so on. Just explore the Maps, find Mobs which are like 10 Ranks above you.. check how fast you can kill and then go for it. A fight shouldnt last longer than 40 seconds, if you want fast SP. Most ppl dont get the point of SP/hour > SP/Mob.. if you need 5 Minutes to kill a Dragon just to get 700 SP... i just have to lol.. in 5 Mins you kill 5+ Raptors for 300ish ( depending on Rank ), so little SP with faster Kills > High SP, long fights in any way.

I would go with 4-6 People. 5-6 was best experience so far. Its a good mix of decent SP and Speed in killing. 8 People the SP will shrink and low numbers on People will make fights longer. So we always go with 5-6.. to which camp? Whatever we want to fight There are TONS of camps with Mobs at the correct range.. you could check some sites for it, like YG.. which mobs would be ideal etc etc.

    EDIT:

    @ Vahzl

The ones at Treespeak give around 280ish SP per kill by a group of 6 People, Rank 40-42 and fast Kills.. were around 14k a hour. Its ok tho.. not the best but an option of course.

I actually would like to see grinding become a little more viable though, as I think I am one of like 7 people in the world that enjoys the nostalgia of going out to camps, and party playing the night away. Always makes me remember the parties in Bibiki Bay, hours and hours chipped away inside that goblin cave to the far south, watching out for the Bomb Tosses, and risking the run into the melee to use Barfira.

    Fun

I agree.. fun times at Bibiki Bay XD....

Well anyways.. I think the Problem is most people didnt even try to explore all the Areas and their Mobs and their posibilties with SP-Parties. The only difference i see in FFXIV, compared to FFXI camps is that you have to roam more in FFXIV. But i dont think thats a bad thing to do. I dont like just "staying around" and waiting for Puller to bring next Mob. Of course there is Lack of SP-Chains, but like SE said, they are looking into it and i have no doubts that it will come. Questions is when... so patience!.

Great post Prox! I'm with Vahlz and Nero, there was nothing better in FFXI than getting quality experienced people and the right jobs and going out to a solid camp and slaughtering things. Loved leveling RNG in Bibiki Bay crushing Dhamels for 2000+ Slugshots with the good old Hellfire+1 and silver bullets after the Berserked. I'm hoping that is fulfilled in next patch and they create a similar party search function and it will be available in FFXIV.
