    Is 1.18 the final straw?

Recently I've been finding myself with less and less interest to play ffxiv. I've been working on Goldsmithing off and on when the mood (or lack of anything else to do) hits. Sometimes I catch myself just sitting there looking at my other monitor going through these very forums hoping for some new news.

Last night during my static leve run I think I linked instead of aspecting... twice. This lack of focus came from a lack of interest which came from the fact that this was probably the 500th time I'd done these exact same leves since I started leveling a few fighting classes.

I woke up this morning about to log on and thought to myself, why? I'm going to log in and waste hours of my life grinding away doing the same motions that I've been doing for months and I have news for you SE, It's not fun.

The crafting system (like many people have said) is very boring. It was enjoyable at first, but when you creep up on your 500th hour of sitting in one spot hitting standard to finish a synth so you can throw it away to make room for more, the novelty ends quickly.

Where is the "content" for crafters? I seriously enjoyed the Alchemist storyline, why can't leves be more like that? Why can't our leve quests have meaning instead of the same "make 6 rings so the strippers can put them in sensitive places" everyday? Why can't we come to an NM fight and (like the Goldsmith quest with the spriggan) need to pick up items around the spawn point to craft and throw at the monster to weaken it? You have the mechanics already, how about you use your imaginations to put those mechanics to good use? There are hundreds (still thousands?) of people in the game that could come up with encounters using the same mechanics that are in place now... without needing an overhaul.

With the promise of actual content coming in 1.18 (Dungeons and their bosses mainly) we may actually have some more interesting things to do. But FFXIV was interesting at first too. How long will the novelty last? And will it be something we can enjoy at least 3 months down the road without wanting something different (aside from the usual trolls of course)

But if it fails (I mean miserably not troll whine fail) For how many of you is this the final straw?

Probably for alot of people...but on the bright side, they've said after the base of the new combat system+general overhaul of the way equipment, stats, and enemies work, they'll be able to add content on a much faster basis. Hopefully that rings true, along with the new system being fun, enemies being challenging, and dungeons being cool and worthwhile to explore.

    Also nice looking bosses.

I do agree with the lackluster of excitement, adventure and emotion this game brings in its current state.

I'm not sure though how you do your leves in the static group but im assuming you just abandon and repeat the same leves in uldah area along with the majority of the population?

There are several other camps and leves through out Grid, Limsa, Uld that you could try to do as well. Several of them are potentially better then the "good" uldah leves. If you have a static you guys can easily share ports and port to cities and get leves you guys can link together.

Just a thought to maybe break away from the norm~

Final straw for me. I'm sick and tired of waiting around for the game to be good. I really want it to be good but my patience is wearing thin.

    O.o
Where can I pick up quests to pierce strippers' nether regions?
I've been making knockoff necklaces and actions that clearly no one would ever wear!

1.18 is the start of make or break time. They may very well underwhelm in 1.18, but even if they do they can still limp on.

I think 1.18 will disappoint and am willing to give them until 1.2c to generate FF- quality gaming.

Eh, I dunno. As long as my (constantly diminishing amount of) friends keep playing, I'll still have a reason to stick around, although lately this game has just become a giant chatroom, since I've pretty much done everything there is to do already, and most everything is pretty boring to me.

I still want to do what I can to help make this a better game.

I know one thing for sure, though - If this game is still sub-par by the time Diablo III comes out, it's unlikely I'll be spending much time in Eorzea.

I think for a lot of people 1.18 is make or break time. Me personally I just don't know any more, I have stuck it out from day 1 and I really have a lot of hopes on 1.18 to pick up my interest levels.

I completely agree with you Bloodlotus about having a lack of focus during Leve runs. I have actually been falling asleep during them purely because of a complete lack of mental stimulation while doing them. It isn't through me just being tired it is the game, I have dropped asleep during a Leve run in the middle of the day before. When we do our Leve run I have to keep getting up and walking around while playing just to keep myself awake now because it has become such a mindless boring task. They just make me feel so tired and all the way through I will just be thinking ok I'll go to bed once these are done and then we finish and I'll come off FFXIV and I will feel fine and be wide awake.

I really hope they deliver with 1.18 because I honestly do not know how much more I can take of this. I know I could just take a break but I really want to get all my levelling done and out the way so when this content comes I can jump straight into it with both feet. I just hope all this effort will be worth it I guess.

As long as SE is using their resources to try and make this a better game I'll continue to play. If there were truly better alternatives I'd be playing them. I really see the potential this game has within it whether or not it ever reaches my envisioned potential we will have to wait and see. SE has openly admitted they made mistakes they also have said they are willing to fix them given time 1.18 is the beginning for me not the final straw.

Why torture yourself? Do you really have to be THAT ahead of the game whenever content is released? Why not just wait until there IS content to level up.

I think what you're posting is why FFXIV will die with a whimper... as opposed to a 'bang'.....
