Market board - forced to buy an item on the board while not at the market board

Steps:
1. Went to market board to buy a bunch of low priced items needed for 1 and 2 star crafting.
2. Started to See "Insufficient gil" error message on my screen, didn't think much of it thought it was lag or something.
3. Went to summoner's bell to move some items to my retainer and at that moment I heard the sound file for buying an item and received a bone chip in my inventory. Then checked my gil and it is suddenly 2 million gil lower than before.
4. Checked market board history and saw that i bought a 2 million gil "bone chip" without being at the market board when it happened.

Goal: To resolve this bug/hack so it doesn't occur to anyone else and to get the gil i lost to this bug back on my character.

An FC member in my FC is experiencing the same thing.

Apparently, he's been buying Tin pieces for a few million gil outside of his control.

So... this is an interesting way to get hacked.

Speculation: Trading or interacting with another character reveals their session ID then a session ID login is used (I thought they fixed this exploit though).

It was happening to at least 3 characters at the same time on Tonberry server in Limsa Lominsa.

Virus scan by one victim using malwarebytes and eset showed up nothing.

Character is LOGGED IN, and yet their account is being forced to buy items, all they can do is see it disappear. First occurrence was when melding in Limsa.

1. Went to market board to buy check prices before I crafted for sale.
2. Started to See "Insufficient gil" error message on my screen, didn't think much of it thought it was lag or something.
3. Noticed suddenly that I had lost 6 mil in gil - and I had gained an antidote, and a beastkin blood
4. Checked market board history and saw that i bought each for 3 mil gil





Goal: To resolve this bug/hack so it doesn't occur to anyone else and to get the gil i lost to this bug back on my character.

Good luck getting Square to replace these funds.. I hope they do for you all.. it sucks it really does to lose so much money.. I lost what I thought was a lot of money - for me anyway considering it was all I had in total over 3 different times combines 500,000 gil and so far nothing has been done.. it wasnt do an incident like this i am pretty sure.. it was due to an issue of game back up data when the game went into maintenance

I'm on Midgardsormr too and saw the "insufficient gil" error happen as well. I put everything in my retainer from the inn in hopes to keep it safe.

I was running down the hall in the market area in Limsa and suddenly got a message on my screen that said "Insufficient Gil" and nearly all of my money disappeared which was approximately 2.1 or 2.2 mill gil and I then looked at shout and saw a bunch of people complaining of the same message and issue. I immediately zoned hoping it was just some visual bug and my money is still gone. I submitted a bug report immediately. 30 mins later 3 people on the server informed me that they saw where the market said I bought an eye drop for 2 million gil.. one of them took a screenshot of it whereas I immediately ran to the Inn and have been standing here in shock pretty much while everyone else staggers in amazement that this has happened. Please check into this issue, this is quite devastating.

Happened to several people on Midgardsormr. I saw the spam myself, but luckily I've had most of my gil on my retainer so just got the "insufficient gil" error. Speculation says it is a zone-wide city thing that "fishes" for people with enough gil to buy the overpriced items and forces them to make the purchase.

Is the gil being pulled out of retainers to make these purchases? Or is it only using gil that's on you at that time?
