My friend was hacked while logged in

My friend was logged in at the Summoning Bell. He went afk with 3+ million gil and came back with the gil counter displaying the same. However whenever he tried to do anything involving gil he got an error stating he didn't have enough.

When he reopened the Summoning Bell his counter instantly fixed itself bringing him down to sub 500k. His purchase history suddenly said he had bought an item for 3 million exactly while the item was worth 5gil. Others in our linkshell were suddenly reporting the same issue.

It seems someone or a group is forcibly pulling money from people using the summoning bell.

Please fix this and return my friend's gil.

It's firing about literally everywhere on my server, Midgardsormr. Happening in and out of retainer. In the meantime I would stay out of any cities to avoid this happening. Hopefully this is an issue that can be immediately resolved. In the meantime, I'm staying logged out. Please, please devs. Add some more security to this game or something if it's happening to people while they are logged in.

Or, if it's a bug. Please fix it, either way. Something bad is happening.

I was also a victim. an HQ imp wing and a braised papira were purchased for huge sums of money each. I never bought these but they showed up in my inventory

Yeah, people are shouting warning people to only use the summoning bell in the inn, not sure if that makes a difference.
Seems like they're impersonating your retainer request somehow.

I did notice a generic counting aloud every time someone used the bell for weeks in Ul'dah. Maybe they're connected.

This just happened to me too! I was there and 2.1mil gil was taken out of my account. This is unacceptable and needs to be looked at asap! Kindly returm my gil back to me.
