That means nothing if they don't give out retention figures.
edit: I just meant that it would have been nice to see total accounts and % retention so we could see how healthy 2.0 was.

minus the number of people that quit. it says registered accounts, not active. take wow for example, the number of registered accounts is probably 100x the number of active
edit: ...you look like a kid version of me lol
Isn't it obvious? The trolls are looking for solid information that FFXIV is tanking. They love to cheer for its failure at any opportunity.
WoW uses some funky registration numbers anyways. Sine a large percentage of players are in China. If you didn't know in China they "pay as you go". So some people may not use up anytime and actually get counted. IE I have 10 mins in January I count, I don't use those 10 mins I still count in February. So not all the people counted are actually paying accounts.
Thats my point though, its counting registered accounts and not active.. i would call this game successful so far, but you cant look at that 1.5 million number and automatically say that 1.5 million people are playing.. everyone has people in their FC that havent logged on in weeks.WoW uses some funky registration numbers anyways. Exactly my thoughts as well.. im a 1.0 player as well, but to honestly believe that every single person that has registered is still playing is not just rose colored glasses, those are glasses made of roses. Not to mention they are likely counting players with both PC and PS3 keys twice since they had to be registered individually
It definitely means something. Just not what *you* would like to know.
It means that another half a million players bought the game since Tokyo Game Show, which is a really nice figure for second month sales of a MMORPG.
As for retention, servers look pretty damn crowded to me, so I'm not really worried.
