    Aldis and a new job [GLA spoilers inside!]

    So, if you've finished your GLA class quests you'll know that Aldis says that he's leaving to a land far away. I was wondering, tho, if this could be used by SE once we get an expansion with new world areas and jobs. To be honest, I think that Aldis would fit great as the guide/master of the samurai job, being it a more damage-focused second job for the gladiator class.

    Think about it, his clothes fit the role of a wandering samurai, he just uses a small shield as GLA, and his personality would fit the job too (even with his faults, he's still a noble and honorable character, as seen when we finally discover that he didn't accept to lose/cheat on that fight as we were told). Also, as I said, he left for a land far away, so it could be possible for him to start learning new techniques there, and we could easily find him there to start our training.

    Do you think too that this might be used by SE when the time comes?

    P.S.: And yes, I like that character He's my fav friendly NPC so far (well, besides Hildibrand, if that counts haha).

    He looked more like a red mage to me. But I doubt any class characters return in job quests. They are two different things.

    He did seem a lot like a SAM, but given the Job quests have little connection to the class quests now, I doubt that it's foreshadowing a new Job for GLA.

    Ironically, this wasn't the case in 1.0, where the class quests directly led into the Job ones. Evidence of this is shown with the first PLD Job quest, where Lulustu the Guild receptionist greets your character by name when informing the player about the rumour of the Sultansworn teaching the skills of PLD to adventurers, as if she'd known you for ages.

    In ARR she had no real connection or contact to your character at all, apart from the initial join up phase, where as in 1.0 she was directly connected to the class quests, acting as a kind of mentor to your character and giving them the quest rewards. I'm not sure how other class and Job quests were in 1.0, as I never did them (only GLA/PLD), but given how GLA and PLD were handled in ARR, it wouldn't surprise me if they were the same. In any event, Lulutsu's friendly personal comments at the start of the PLD quests now seem somewhat out of place given the aforementioned lack of contact she now has with the player.

    And having said that, the PLD quests in ARR are pretty much the same as they were in 1.0, save for some slight variation in dialogue here and there (and occasional differences in quest objectives), or at least, the first quest was.

    SPOILER: Rurukuta in your main adversary up until the final Pugilist quest, but when the whole quest chain is over, he says that he's gone off to find more meaning in his life. I initially expected him to become a Job teacher, but of course this was left to the horrible duo of Widargelt and Eric. These things happen, the guy goes off, loose threads left unraveled, the tapestry unfinished. There's a saying in writing to never write yourself into a corner, and always leave yourself the option to continue.

    Yeah, I know were are you all coming from, but as Balaur said the option is there, so who knows if they will continue those stories or not. After all every gladiator would know the character for sure, as it's needed to finish the class quests before starting the job, so it's easy to follow from there when introducing the new job. Maybe they didn't do that with Lulustu because they changed/updated it from what it was in 1.0, but didn't want to change it a lot, and that left her with somewhat strange dialogues.

    They do this now and did this before... and in the same way. Someone tells you about the Job person being somewhere. It is always either the Guild Master or the receptionist.

    1.0's Job quests were far removed from the class ones. CNJ's was about some stupid amnesiac hippie idiot and ARC was about some archer chick and her brother or former partner or some crap.

    You should keep in mind that jobs all share the base class's weapon, so unless you mean a whole new class entirely, and I don't see why Aldis should change class, Samurai cannot spring off as a job from Gladiator. Gladiator is sword/shield, so it'd be more likely if Paladin's "sibling" job coming from Gladiator would be another sword/shield job. Red Mage fits the description perfectly, but as of now I doubt it'd have a place in our job palette. I really do hope it comes out eventually though. It really bugs me to see only 4 of the 6 "original" jobs from the Final Fantasy core being in-game.

    Considering daggers stick out like a sore thumb for GLA, I have a feeling it'll either get more dagger focus (I honestly hope not) ordaggers will get removed and GLA will get a new secondary weapon to accomodate whatever job they decide to give GLA.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    GLD could specialise to SAM very easily simply by making them unable to equip shields and giving them special SAM only swords... GLD is defined ONLY by the sword; the shield is simply a secondary piece of equipment much like it is for CNJ and THM. GLD > SAM is very possible and very likely in my opinion.
