Crafting 100% Success 100% HQ 2 Star Items

Hi to all starting crafters who wants to guarantee yourselves a successful HQ 2 Star craft w/ out spending too much of materia setup and leveling more lvl 50 crafting class.

    Recommended Stats:
    347 Craftmanship / 340 Control / 370 CP (w/ +30 CP HQ Cawl Cennin)

Recommended Materia Slots that wont cost too much for overmelding:
    Offhand (AF) - Craft +5 / CP +2
    Helm (AF) - Craft +3 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1
    Body (AF) - Craft +3 / Craft +3 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1
    Gloves (AF) - Craft +3 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1
    Belt (Raptorskin's Merchant Purse) - Ctrl +3 / CP +2 / Craft +3 / CP +1
    Pants (AF) - Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1
    Shoes (AF) - Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1 / Ctrl+1
    Necklace (Electrum Choker) - Ctrl +3 / CP +3 / Craft +3 / CP +1 / CP +1
    Earring (Red Coral Earrings) - Ctrl +3 / CP +3 / Craft +3 / CP +1 / CP +1
    Bracelet (Militia Wristlets) - Ctrl +3 / CP +3 / Ctrl +1 / Craft +3 / CP +1
    Ring 1 (Aetheryte Ring) - Ctrl +3 / CP +3 / Ctrl +1 / Craft +3 / CP +1
    Ring 2 (Aetheryte Ring) - Ctrl +3 / CP +3 / Ctrl +1 / Craft +3 / CP +1

Note: It's fine to spend more on overmelding accesories and belt because it can be used for all crafting class. If you want more HQing boost for 40 Durability 2 Star Items, you can boost Control by melding AF gear starting w/ Ctrl+3 + Ctrl+2 + Required Craft or CP .

Required Cross Class Skills for 40 Durability 2 Star Crafting:
    Lvl 50 Carpenter's Byregote's Blessing
Lvl 37 Culinarian's Steady Hands II
    Lvl 15 Weaver's Careful Synthesis
    Lvl 15 Goldsmith's Manipulation
    Lvl 15 Blacksmith's Ingenuity
    Lvl 15 Culinarian's Hasty Touch

Skill Rotation for 40 Durability 2 Star Crafting:
Note: This skill rotation won't guarantee a 100% HQ. It needs luck w/ Hasty Touch and Good/Excellent Condition proc.
    "Inner Quiet"
    "Steady Hand II"
    "Waste Not"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Manipulation"
    "Steady Hand II"
    "Waste Not"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Hasty Touch"
    "Steady Hand"
(If you got Excellent Condition, use Byregot's Blessing)
"Great Strides" note: No need to use Great Strides if you use Byregot's Blessing on an excellent condition after steady hand.
(If you got Excellent Condition, use Byregot's Blessing)
"Ingenuity" note: if you use Byregot's Blessing on an excellent condition after Great Strides, don't forget to use Ingenuity after.
    "Byregot's Blessing"
    "Careful Synthesis"
    "Careful Synthesis"
    Total CP cost: 370

Note: This skill rotation will guarantee you a 100% crafting success but HQ percentage depends on your luck w/ "Hasty Touch" and Good/Excellent Condition proc. If you're unlucky and managed to craft a normal 40 Durability 2 Star Item, don't be sad because there's a skill rotation for 80 Durability 2 Star that will guarantee you a 100% Success 100% HQ w/ a normal 40 Durability 2 Star Item. Just make sure other cheap materials needed are HQ.

Required Cross Class Skills for 80 Durability 2 Star Crafting:
    Lvl 50 Carpenter's Byregote's Blessing
Lvl 37 Culinarian's Steady Hands II
    Lvl 15 Weaver's Careful Synthesis
    Lvl 15 Goldsmith's Manipulation
    Lvl 15 Blacksmith's Ingenuity
Lvl 15 Culinarian's Hasty Touch - Not really needed but you can use it for free

Skill Rotation for 80 Durability 2 Star Crafting:
    - "Inner Quiet"
    - "Steady Hand II"
    - "Basic Touch"
    - "Basic Touch"
    - "Basic Touch"
    - "Basic Touch"
    - "Basic Touch"
    - "Manipulation"
    - "Steady Hand"
    - "Standard Touch"
    - (If you got Excellent Condition, use Byregot's Blessing)
    - "Great Strides" note: No need to use Great Strides if you use Byregot's Blessing on an excellent condition after the Standard Touch.
    - (If you got Excellent Condition, use Byregot's Blessing)
    - "Ingenuity" note: if you use Byregot's Blessing on an excellent condition after Great Strides, don't forget to use Ingenuity after it.
    - "Byregot's Blessing"
    - "Standard Synthesis"
    - "Careful Synthesis"
    - "Careful Synthesis"
    Total CP cost: 370

Note: The whole rotation will leave you 10 more durability and you can consume that by using "Hasty Touch" after "Inner Quiet". It's actually not needed but it's a free step so why not take it.

Note: There are other materia setup and skill rotations out there that includes other high level cross class skills. I just want to minimize the cost of materia setup and number of crafting class that needs to be leveled up but still can guarantee a 2 Star HQ Item.

Thanks for Dorin for this rotation, I tested it and it might be the best skill rotation that utilize most of lvl 50 crafting skills. It also just required 359 CP.

You'll get more with 4 ST > 5 BT, SH > SH2, and WN > Manipulation, for 3 less CP. Start off with a Comfort Zone and you can probably pull it off with 10CP NPC food instead of good crafted food. Not a huge deal since you are already at 100% quality, but for those will less CP and control it can be useful.

    Macro form requiring 348 CP:

You know that decimals in wait commands in macro are not being used / are rounded up, right?

Also - using macros on any 1 or 2 star recepies (or any other ones involving rare or expensive mats or items) is a bit risky as a small lag will cause fail on some steps resulting in possible craft fail. If you'd still prefer to use the macros in such situations I strongly recommend adding 1 sec to wait after each touch or synthesis and 2 seconds after each status changing action like Manipulation, Steady hand and so on. Better "waste" 16 - 20 seconds than loosing expensive mats and items ... Finally - using macros decreases the efficiency as you're unable to swap around basic and standard or advanced touches based on the current status (bad / normal / good / excellent) as you should indeed keep those corelated.

Are you sure they round up to the nearest second? I remember reading that they don't accept anything past 1 decimal place, which would make no sense if they round up to the nearest second (assuming my memory and the post I read were both correct). Also, I noticed a large difference going from 3 seconds to 2.5 on my macros, but it could just be placebo.

I craft with macros all the time, and never have lag/missed step issues. I have a solid cable connection, and I don't synth in laggy areas where I have to wait for NPC's to load up.

Especially on 1 and 2 star recipes, the early touches without Ingenuity aren't worth wasting CP on Standard or Advanced touch. That extra CP is better used buffing your BB, either through more steps (Manipulation instead of WN, etc) or less Synthesis steps (1x/2x Standard instead of 2x/3x Careful) This is the same reason Hasty Touch spam is so effective.

It's very easy to test - make one macro with 13 commands "/wait 2.5" plus echo at the start and end of the macro and another one with "/wait 3" and compare the times. As far as I recall the last dev announcement stated that they're removing / rouding up decimals (and even the reason why was quite "bizzare"). In regards of lags - it's server lag - I've actually experienced a bunch of those since 2.05 patch and many failures in my macros which where working without a glitch prior the update. Basically - if you craft something more valuable I prefer to either to do it manually or to use the "safe" version of the macros with extended waiting times. It's macro after all so extra time used to run it is not that much of problem and I can live with those extra few seconds lost on the food bufs too. And of course - the comment in regrads rotation of the touches is only valid in cases where you have those "Mixed" in one (section of) macro - usually due to the limited durability or with some low or mid range recepies to speed up the process. But indeed if your level is way above the recepie level or if you're using Ingenuity or Ingenuity II this is not much of concern anyway.

^ Nice rotation you got there. I tried to craft a Vanya Gear again but this time I tried to minimize the use of high level cross class skills. I also use some steps from your rotation =D

Here are the only cross class skills that I used to get 100% Success 100% HQ 2 Star Item w/ Normal Quality Vanya Silk and 2x High Quality Twinthread:
    Lvl 50 Carpenter's Byregote's
Lvl 37 Culinarian's Steady Hands II
    Lvl 15 Weaver's Careful Synthesis
    Lvl 15 Goldsmith's Manipulation
    Lvl 15 Blacksmith's Ingenuity

    Skill Rotation:
    "Inner Quiet"
    "Steady Hand II"
    "Basic Touch"
    "Basic Touch"
    "Basic Touch"
    "Basic Touch"
    "Basic Touch"
    "Manipulation"
    "Steady Hand II"
    "Basic Touch"
    "Great Strides"
    "Ingenuity"
    "Byregot's Blessing"
    "Standard Synthesis"
    "Careful Synthesis"
    "Careful Synthesis"

    Total CP cost: 359

This is NOT a 100% HQ method

The following is NOT a 100% HQ method like originally posted:

    Comfort Zone (Normal)
    Inner Quiet (Normal)
    Waste Not (Normal)
    Steady Hand II (Excellent)
    Basic Touch (Poor)
    Basic Touch (Normal)
    Basic Touch (Normal)
    Basic Touch (Normal)
    Basic Touch (Normal)

    Great Strides (Normal)
    Steady Hand (Excellent)
    Standard Touch (Poor)
    Great Strides (Normal)
    Innovation (Normal)

    Ingenuity (Normal)
    Byregot's Blessing (Normal)
    Careful Synthesis II (Normal)
    Careful Synthesis II (Normal)
    Careful Synthesis II (Normal)

I have 347 Craftsmanship, 340 Control, and 359 CP. The above results (getting two poors on a Basic Touch and Standard Touch) got my Quality to 90%. This is not a 100% HQ method. The easiest way to fix this is:

Add 14 more CP to your build for 373 total. This will let you use Observe if Steady Hand I is Excellent; making your Steady Hand I a Poor and your Standard Touch a Normal (instead of Poor.) This doesn't affect the rest of your rotation at all. It may be possible to make your Standard Touch an Advanced Touch for 16 more CP, or your Ingenuity I an Ingenuity II for 8 CP to try and get that 90% to 100%; but I'm not going to attempt the risk when Observe will make this an Official Guaranteed "100% Method."

So I ran into something strange a few times.

On my leatherworker I successfully pull off the macro you posted in the OP twice for my armourer equipment. I switch to my weaver, using the same foods and melds and macros, I somehow end up with not enough CP to do the Standard Synthesis at the end twice?

I keep looking to see if I maybe missed CP melds on something, but everything is there, and I believe one of the synths on Leatherworker worked with me using an HQ unmelded Aetheryte Ring by mistake. All I'm worried about is this will happen when I'm doing a 2 star synth and cause me to fail

Is it possible to craft 2 star HQ without having weaving or alchemy to lv50?
