    We complained about the "flashiness" in 1.0? Maybe you did, but I seem to remember more people complained about the lack of flashy effects and unique animations for our weapon skills.

    And I'm not seeing where you get the idea that the party UI looks messy. None of the indicators are overlapping or "clustered". And keep in mind you're seeing the game's UI rendered on a 1280x720 screen. Think about how it will look on a full 1080p resolution.

    If a hundred things about ARR look good, and one thing looks bad, mentioning that one bad thing a hundred times does not make it any greater amount than a single bad thing. And yes, the verbal and written response to these videos are of course going to focus on what's bad, because its people's natural inclination to notice what doesn't look right or normal to them.
    Dammit Eikiki, making me want to play FFI all over again.

    Hmm yes I see your point, Contra does look more interesting to play but let's use more modern day examples to give fair judgement using this and this.

    IMO flashiness made games more interesting :P (But Contra still looked more interesting, lol)

    Let's just say that there's some contradictions in what the devs said and the actual state of alpha. . . .

    In these threads people are often wrong and/or have false assumptions. That's expected though, since the opinions are based only on vids the devs hand out and bits of txt info.

    Greetings!

    In regards to all of the comments about how the enemies visibly react to player attacks, we'll be adjusting these animations around the time the Beta Test begins.

    Specifically we are looking into addressing it in the following ways:
    • Vary the damage animation according to the amount of damage inflicted.
    • Tone down the damage animation for large monsters.

    I think any mob half your size or smaller should receive a knockback effect when ever you hit them.
