    Ash Tuna

My fishing is currently 47 and i'm trying to catch Ash Tuna for GC Provision Materials for seal turn in. I've done some testing in Cedarwood recently, here are my findings:

    Cedarwood (Grade 4)

    Tested 1 hour of fishing

    80 fish total caught.

    *Breakdown*

    Biannaq Bream = 31 fish nq, 4 fish +1

    Ash Tuna - 22 fish nq, 5 fish +1

    Hammerhead Shark - 15 fish nq, 3 fish +1

Malm Kelp & White Coral were negligible. Everything else in the hour of fishing was "Nothing Bites."

I want to emphasize I'm trying to fish Ash Tuna only. I've been fishing with Floating Minnows. Depth is 0, Strike Zone 1. Depth and strike zone information taken from Mooglebox.

What should I be favoring heavy from gear? Perception, Output, or Gathering. Should I use food at my level? What abilities should I have equipped to help my chances? Any additional information would help me out.

    Thx (*'-')

    Hey Chylmera =)

Unfortunately Ash Tuna are just rare and I believe you only get one of them per pull. Since you are 47 on a Grade 4 node there really isn't any stat you need to be able to get more of them or get them more easily, although you might want to focus on perception so you can get more +1's.

Best advice I can give you is to try out different baits. I believe Goby Balls work well if you can find some for sale. You want to try to find a bait that the Ash Tuna love but few other fish like. I don't believe I tried out Floating Minnow there, but if it Ash Tuna like it (the line will get a hit immediately and the message says "You feel something big on your line!") then it is probably best to stick with it.

Also, you might want to try to find schools of fish. The fish you can pull are different, usually rarer fish are more common. Also, fish seem to bite much faster when you fish at a school.

I might end up abandoning this altogether farming these for seal turn ins. Maybe I should just duo ToTo-Rak for gear or do caravan escorts.

It's unfortunate that the 3 baits Ash Tuna like; Goby Balls, Floating Minnows, & Rat Tails, Biannaq Bream and Hammerhead Sharks also favor them as bait.

will i farm them for over 5+hours a day while watching movies/shows to kill the time i made my first 10mil doing so but i find mining to make way more money about 10mil every 2days if i work hard enough but i also needed ARM,blacksmith 50 with good gear to make that much profit.

so fishing is a way to get good money but bot/mining make more if you put the time into it to get gear and also do the crafting that work best with it.

it might be kinda late but meh
raise ur output and abandon perception and gathering (that is if u want to fish more). equip Truth of the mountains (not sure) it give acc to where u are fishing and where is the depth hence that it will make ash tuna fish more (i tested it multiple times).

my output atm is 180 i can raise it for more if i want with some HQ gears but i'm not even bothering
and in 1 hour i fish two stacks of tuna less bream and less coral.

the problem with tuna is that its bait shares alot of fishes like sharks and bream in term of fav.

This isn't exactly the best advice. The highest output you need is 114 to cap out on how many attempts you can get from a fishing school, and you can only catch one ash tuna at a time so further raising it won't help with this.

From my testing, Ash Tuna react well to floating minnows and goby balls, but so do the other fish. If I recall, I had the best luck with goby balls. It's hard to narrow them down though even when you're fishing from the correct sweet spot.
