Requesting Information on Jobs: Preparing for 1.21

Featherfoot and second wind fail compared to PLD having it's own heal and being IMPERVIOUS to physical attacks....

Also, doesn't making yourself impervious to physical attacks disable or weaken your melee?

I would assume a PLD will do less damage in exchange for its better tanking ability. I'm hoping anyway...

It's a tough call, I expect pld to be better at mitigating dmg and generating enmity, as well as protecting allies, but not necessarily weaker in terms of dmg.

They said they will limit the versatility aspect of jobs, but not specific assets of the base class

Also, I have to admit that even tho SE stated otherwise, I still hope I'll be able to solo in some extent with jobs.

Every class has its own healing ability of some sorts, let's see if higher dmg output accounts for the loss in healing that you lose from the inability to cross class skills like bloodbath or second wind (pld won't have that problem).

As we are on the eve of 1.21 it seems that there are more info on Jobs being released. In favor of keeping this thread's OP up to date and consolidating discussion I'll be bumping this.

Hello! We received some information about job-specific gear that I'd like to share with you.

It won’t be possible to attach materia to job-specific gear. Job-specific gear will feature stats that are better than gear that is craftable that have more than one materia attached. With that said, we will look into adding new gear in future patches that will have better stats than job- specific gear with multiple materia attached to them.

There was also a question about the reasoning for the job-specific gear being referred to as AF (or artifact gear). While the upcoming job-specific gear is a type of artifact gear, there are plans to have other types of artifact gear in the future, some of which won’t necessarily be job-specific.
