Aquariums that are floating, now latch onto objects as if they were wall mounted, but cannot be placed as if they are wall mounted. I am really sad. :C

I think stopping people from being able to do that kind of thing was the point.
It looks like they changed the area it checks for a tabletop surface to latch onto. You could try putting some wall cabinets or something below it? It's doubtful they're going to revert the changes.
None of this would be an issue if SE understood what people want/expect from housing now.
Every item should have a wall-mount toggle so you no longer have to clip things up walls.
Every item should have a tabletop toggle so you can place things on stools, tables,
chairs, or on the stages without having to glitch things.
Or at the very least a float-able platform that acts like the floor and step options for the shorter NPCs so they can see over most counters/tables!
We should also be able to rotate any item!
Clearly the community can make a lot of awesome stuff its just a shame that we have to rely on glitches right now when they could just give us the tools to foster people's creativity!
It looks like what happened in your image was that the aquarium snapped to the top of the half-partition, as it's a tabletop item. If you play with lowering it more you should make it stick again.
