Hmm. It could also be because:

1) Most of the jobs required having a job at level 30 before you could go through a long questchain to unlock them,
2) Leveling jobs required five other people...

To be fair, gaining half a level after two hours of grinding mobs 5-7 levels below you sounds out of whack. They should reduce the exp gain significantly after the 3-5 level mark to prevent stuff...
