AK is meant to be ran before you get darklight. This is why the gear you get from it is lvl 60 and darklight is 70.

This was most likely a bug and not at all the players fault.

The issue isn't the amount of time consumed.
You can cap out your weekly about in a day.
It's the "oh I have capped out my stones for the week? let me wait 6 more days until I can get more."
