It needs to give experience at least, or it's largely pointless. Rewards matter, it's not much of a game if you aren't getting anything. If you just want to just relive the story, go to the inn....

From my experience tanks just take way more damage, I think the only tank that can still do it in most content is paladin because of how strong clemency is. Also I think warriors can do it post 76...
