I've run into this also. I've had ships going to nothing but the 2 sectors known for Kamacite yet they've come back with everything but Kamacite. I've a whopping 13 ore since these areas were added...

Confirming this; also had the same thing happen.

Can also opt for Whale Stern over Unkiu for same surv; it's slow, but it has a bit more range and a little more retrieval. Makes for a great looking submarine to boot! :p
