You don't get the bonus if you are in first. The bonus only is for exp for people ranked 2nd-8th.

R-80 is super low though, and it has an effect there. In R-140 with head start and the race in rain, I will be in 6th or 7th by the first box I get slowed *that* bad.

It wasn't you not noticing, it is just as you described, foul weather birds don't get hit, almost at all in their opposite weather, while fair weather birds run with like a constant heavy on them in...

This imbalance really really needs to be addressed or fixed or something, but getting a fair bird when you have 0 control over it is just feeling like a punishment now.

Yeah this is what I am hoping, that the old shields are grandfathered in, but logical doesn't always win out sadly.
