Just hit 99!

So I hit lvl 99, found a guide to get lvl 117 gear through the Records of Eminence sparks. I'll eventually get to getting the 119 but it looks like a long run of things to do.

However I see there are lvl 99 rings and earrings, but they seem VERY simple compered to a few misc items I've grabbed from the auction house (lvls 50-75 range). Am I misunderstanding these items?

1st off, congratulations.

As for your question, I just got back after a loooooong layoff, & noticed the exact same thing. Personally, I go by stats or attributes that fit my job/build. There are some nice lvl 99 Rare EX rings & earrings though. Sorry I could not be of more assistance; I am a returning player.

FFXI AH is actually a good place to see armor sets, pending your job. The guides are usually the top topic of each job forum section

After this your goal is to do Ambuscade on very easy book 2 to gain points to get better 119 armor and weapon, then to upgrade them via the same system.

As mentioned above, I would focus on Ambuscade and go for the +1 gear, then upgrade it to +2 over time, and also get the Weapon and Back piece and upgrade those.
Also, make sure to set the RoE monthly objectives (4 objectives), they are quite easy to do and you get 10 Deeds of Heroism each for a total of 40 a month, which can then be used to purchase rewards, one is an rechargeable Capacity points bonus ring, and with 170 deeds you can get a pulse weapon!, which is required to upgrade the ambuscade weapon to its final form.


I would try to do Ambuscade with a Party of 6 players so you get the Gallantry as well, if you're solo with trusts you will only get Hallmarks.

I've gotten 119 armor and weapon; but still need to fill up those rings/earings/slots. I feel a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out the Ambuscade stuff; so I've just been working on limit and job points.
