    Hi, there!

To coincide with the July version update, Producer Akihiko Matsui hosted another Freshly Picked Vana'diel to go over some of the new content and discuss other topics pertinent to adventuring. The following is a digest of what was discussed.

Thank you for tuning into Freshly Picked Vana'diel 41.
This time, we were invited to a summer offline meeting set up by Dengeki at the Tokyo Culture Culture in Shibuya. The broadcast was separated into two parts this time. In the first part, we invited voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi and singer RiRiKA as guests. We focused on the September version update details, as well as other information. In the second half, we answered some questions we received from our fellow adventurers.

We've put together a digest and an archived video for those of you who were unable to join us for the broadcast, or simply want to recap on all the information.

With that said, let's start with a recap of part 1.

    Table of Contents
    • Version Update
      (0:01:56)
This segment of the show focused on the major aspects of the September version update.
      • Dynamis - Divergence Upgrading Synthesis Equpment
        (0:02:16)
As mentioned in our previous Freshly Picked Vana'diel 40, after the September version update players will be able to attach augment to synthesized equipment from Dynamis - Divergence.

There are three routes available for the augment, each themed around follow-up attack, increase in attack, and those specific to the weapon type.

The follow-up attack is a new weapon property that deals an additional attack after an auto attack. When combined with Double Attack and Triple Attack, it'll increase the number of attacks to three or four.

We also quickly went over the other properties from the other available augment routes in the video.

        (0:06:20)
We also introduced the neck equipment available from Dynamis - Divergence as well.

You upgrade both the weapon and the neck equipment by accumulating Reinforcement Points, which then upgrades them in stages. There are two ways to accumulate the Reinforcement Points, the first method is by turning in items. For this one, we're planning a new item. Another method is by defeating regular monsters inside Dynamis - Divergence. The upper limit on the Ranks available on the equipment varies depending on their quality (NQ/HQ/HQ2). The higher the quality, the higher you will be able to upgrade.
      • Relic/Mythic(Ergon)/Empyrean/Aeonic Weapon Upgrades
        (0:10:43)
We went over the upgrades for Relic/Mythic(Ergon)/Empyrean/Aeonic weapon upgrades in the stream and showed the before and after stats for the Scythe as an example.

We also went over how these weapons will be upgraded. Along with the method we explained in the previous Freshly Picked Vana'diel, where you must deal a specific amount of damage to the Wave 3 boss, you will also accumulate Reinforcement Points by defeating the boss. Furthermore, we added a new condition where you can accumulate a specific amount of Job Points as well. These weapons will also be upgraded in stages by accumulating Reinforcement Points.

    • Matsui-P Q&A
      (0:01:08)
In this segment, Fujito, the Community Team, and myself answered some of the questions we received from our audience.

Q: Can you please tell us how the FFXI team was when it started development? 0:01:54
      A:
The FFXI team was made by combining different teams together. From Tokyo, we had the Secret of Mana team and the Chrono Cross team, from Osaka, we had the Brave Fencer Musashi team and the Parasite Eve 2 team. Since all the teams worked differently, it was difficult to get everything together.

Matsui: Also, we didn't have anyone that was experienced in working with a large-scale team, such as this one, so everyone was working freely on their own, and we had frequent meetings to discuss those points. As a result, there were times where we had to point out that we can't create a game because of all the meetings.

Q: Do you have plans to adjust the Empyrean Armor?
Q: Do you have plans to adjust existing content?* We answered both questions at once. (0:08:05)
      A:
Fujito: We'll be doing both! However, since we just implemented the Wave 3 for Dynamis - Divergence, so we'll be doing these after some time. We're planning to adjust Vagary and Sinister Reign. For Vagary, we'll adjust so you can flag the Empyrean armor for an upgrade with few people, and for Sinister Reign, we're thinking of a system where you can select your opponent.

Q: When the FFXI service began there was a text in the patch notes that mentioned "xxx issue has been avoided," but who thought of this text? * This question is referring to the Japanese patch notes. (0:11:35)
      A:
Mochizuki: We don't recall writing this, but there's a time where we made a bug fix announcement that mentioned: "We corrected a bug where the text in the patch notes was incorrect."

Q: Can you give us details on job adjustments? (0:13:49)
      A:
Matsui: We're deciding on the upper equipment stats, so we'll finally start touching up on the job adjustments. The job adjustments won't be done by looking at specific jobs, but all around adjustments that'll affect all jobs, big or small.

Q: What do you do as a Producer of FFXI? I would like to see more collaboration event with other titles. Please add Ajido-Marujido in Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia! * We answered both of these questions together.
      (0:15:31)
      A:
Matsui: I arrange meetings to plan out things like what was asked, such as collaborations. We also talk about budgets and such, but we cannot disclose this information, so I'll leave it at that.

There's a lot of meeting that takes place, by having myself attend these meetings there are situations that can be resolved or go smoothly, so I try and attend these as much as possible.

Q: Do you have any plans to increase more magic spells, avatars, songs, and attachment for the automatons? (0:18:20)
      A:
Fujito: There are things we could increase, but we're currently in a situation where the available slot is at its limit and we cannot increase. In general, the slots available for magic spells is already at the limit. However, we're not giving up here, we're continuing to discuss and looking for ways to do this.

Q: Do you have plans for any new mount? I would like to sit on Shadow Lord's shoulder and walk around. (0:20:42)
      A:
Fujito: We're preparing new mounts! Don't think it'll look good seeing Shadow Lord flying in when you blow a horn, so that's not going to happen, but we're looking into various mounts, so please look forward to it.
      * During the broadcast we showed screenshots of the Goobbue and Adamantus mounts.

The next Freshly Picked Vana'diel is scheduled for November or December. Please look forward to the next show!

    Until then, see you!
