    Race and name options

I think it is unfair that Final Fantasy XIV has race and name switching and Final Fantasy XI don't and think this should change in a update. i would pay $10-$30 to be able to do a race or name switching.

Has nothing to do with unfair and everything to do with the fact that this game was not designed with that capability in mind, so there are technical/system issues with trying to add it. The devs are recently on record, once again, that this is not possible currently and they have no plans to make it possible.

There are positive benefits from the "known reputation" of the permanent character identity system in FFXI.

If a person causes distress or insult to you, in your LS, or in an event, you can avoid them in future, because you know their character's name/race/gender.

What would happen if they turned up tomorrow with a different name/race/gender on the same character. You would not know it was the same player. You would risk being distressed and insulted all over again.

Obviously they could start a new character, or play a mule or whatever. But then they would lose the fancy gear and progress they already have.

If a dishonourable player could keep their main character, and just switch name/race/gender, and continue causing distress to people, it would be a horrifying scenario imho.
