    Hello, everyone.

While we understand how great it would be to have automaton skill books, it would not be so cut and dry as the other books that are available. For these books to work as they should, information needs to be taken from the automaton, which means that you would need to have your automaton out in order to use these books. This would be inconvenient as you would be unable to use them on the spot like you can with the current skill books.

Regarding food, it's actually quite difficult to apply these kind of effects to your automaton buddy.
Instead, we've implemented the Percolator attachment that allows the following: "Functionality: Increases skill gain rate." The Percolator has extremely high stats compared to food so we highly recommend using this automaton attachment.

We hope this helps and we encourage more feedback concerning this topic about our automaton friends.

You learn plenty about PUP from leveling up, more from CPing, and most from soloing NMs. Take what you learn from there and see what works/doesnt' in groups. This has always been the case for PUP since day one.
Then you know a trick I don't as I had all Attachments for muy PUP and magic took FOREVER to cap, as opposed to the others which were easy.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the rest.

I used RDM puppet immediately at 99, keeping it at close range to mobs while you JP and you get melee skillups as well. Simple and effective.

Should just make the books to be used when the automaton is out. All we would have to do is zone to an area where the automaton can be summoned.

A minor inconvenience like having to zone out of town in order to use the books should not be enough to justify refusal to implement them. Is the real reason more connected to how different head/frame combos change the skill caps? If so, then it could be likened to how different player jobs have different caps, and simple logic on our part should be able to figure this much out. It's not exactly difficult to change automaton builds in the field after all. PUP tends to draw more detail oriented minded players to begin with, so pretty sure we can handle any quirks that might accompany the books. ^^

Solution: Add Sparks Vendors to Crystal War cities and sell automaton skillbooks only there.

While I do see the percolator as being strong in comparison to some foods/skill up armor, you are forgetting how slowly and infrequently Automatons cast spells. This is what takes so long to skill up.

So yes, the Percolator attachment does help, but it doesn't come close to fixing the problem of how slow the Magic Skill levels up.

Why not just make the Automaton skill up books unusable if the pet is not out? Other abilities in the game will not fire and give a message "This ability requires a pet".

RDM Automaton casts frequent enough to put an average of 10 seconds per spell when including the decrease in rate due to nuke casting times. WHM puppet even more frequent, especially when main healing while you solo CP as an example.

In case words are not enough to shut down the 'years too late' argument of casting rate. I reiterate, this is not a job which should be rushed by any means.

I didn't deny CAPPED it casts fast, I'm saying when you're low due to the easy levelling and your PUP only has access to a few low level spells it takes forever to cast.

You say it shouldn't be rushed, but there is no other way when EXP is as easy as it is, skilling up is literally the only thing still stuck at 75.

At 75 skill your automaton has access to numerous spells which it can consistently cast. It will likely not land these due to it's skill level on high lvl mobs, thus enabling it to spam these spells. RDM head will spam 14 spells at that level due to not having the skill to stick them. 16 if you keep removing pro/shell, all the same but lower tier as it would spam when capped. With all the changes to puppet magic accuracy via the recent merit update and all the magic accuracy gear we've acquired in the last two months alone, nobody is justified in their complaint about skillups. Newer PUPs have it far too easy.
